Every Simmers’ dream comes true for 2

Two of the most respected trainers in SIMLAND, OKDAVID & DRAGNIL, get their lifelong wish when their runners contest the BREEDERS BOWL races. This is a first for both trainers.

I had the pleasure of talking to both this week and get their thoughts as they put the finishing touches on their fillies.

DRAGNIL, an eight year veteran of the game, thought his 2 year old filly MADAM ALLY(IRE) was a nice horse after a 1st up win in FLORIDA.  But knew he was on to it when she ran 3rd in the FOSTERS JUVENILE CUP GR1.   Since that day the BREEDERS BOWL has been the goal.

By ALMUSHTARAK (IRE), Madam Ally(IRE) is inbred 3X5 to NORTHERN DANCER, 5X5 to HAIL TO REASON, and 4X5 to the great mare SPECIAL.  So the turf classic distance fillies race should be no problem on the score of stamina.  She will probably run on the pace and be fighting out the finish to the line.

She is far and away the best of ALMUSHTARAK (IRE) progeny and gives us all hope we can breed a graded runner for a moderate outlay of Bps.

Madam Ally(IRE) is the 1st foal from the MACHIAVELLIAN mare MACHITRICAL who had only 3 starts for no return.

I for one hope the great supporter of SOUTH AFRICAN RACING can pull this one off on his 1st try at the BREEDERS BOWL.

OKDAVID is the other trainer I ran into at the training track.  He has been playing the Sim for two years.  He thinks he has done enough to make the dirt classic 2 year old fillies race with the very impressive DIXIE BURNING.   This filly is by DIXIE UNION who has proven to be a useful sire, producing STAKES AND GRADED winners.

Dixie Burning is out of the APTITUDE mare APT TO BURN, winner of 6 moderate races from 44 starts.   OKDAVID claimed the mare for $15k.  I happened to see this filly win in ARKANSAS where she defeated a good field of colts.  Both runs over 8 & 8.5 furlongs have been good.  She runs just behind the pace and comes home in the stretch.

This filly is a champion of the inbreeding crowd.  She’s 3X4 to NORTHERN DANCER, 4X4 to SEATTLE SLEW, and 4X4 to MR. PROSPECTOR with a 5X5 BUCKPASSER thrown in for good measure and in this case it appears to work.

OKDAVID said had never really had the BOWL in mind, but, when Dixie Burning looked like she was going to make it, he set races to suit.  If she runs well he will probably have one more start before Christmas.  He supports a few residencies so I’m sure we all wish him the best with his filly.
