A field of six juvenile fillies will square off in Parc Le Bois’ Saturday feature, The Stupidly Light Challenge Stakes, fashioned at a distance of seven furlongs over the main course.  The weather forecast for Boise is warm and sunny which is good news for racing fans but not so hot for the rangers fighting local wildfires.  Let’s take a look at the starlets in post position order.

Breaking from gate one is Pigeon9’s Ermington Drop.  The daughter of Eavesdropper and the useful racemare China First Lady (Cat Thief x Cryptoclearance) has won three of five starts with a second place finish also.  The only time the flashy chestnut was unplaced was in Utah’s Grade II Stoker Handicap.  Last time out Ermington Drop was a front running victress in a Washington stake at 5.5 furlongs.  Major threat with a fine conditioner and leading rider Bill Gulch in the irons.

The two hole is occupied by race favorite New Found Pegasus who is tabbed at 2-1 by linemaker Todd Wardle.  Calipso’s pretty brown filly with the soulful eyes and cute white snip is FAST!  She won her first two career starts handily before struggling a bit when asked to face stakes foes.  Still, she posted a very respectable 82 speed figure while finishing a close up fourth in a North Dakota stake in her last race.  The Newfoundland x Alybuck Pegasus (Fu Peg x Alydar) lass breezed a half in :48.1 on Monday and looked sensational on the track.  Appears all set for a big effort.

Undefeated Winternet is named for her sire, Freefourinternet, and SIM glamour girl, Winterheart, who trainer Australia holds in very high esteem.  Winternet is two for two having popped her cherry right here in Idaho at first asking in a maiden special event.  She followed that up with an eye-catching allowance score in Frisco.  Seeks third straight on the step up.  Hot trainer and hot horse.  Nice combination.

Number four is also undefeated.  Montana Hunter is perfect in two tries for Montana based trainer, Bigsky5.  Bigsky names all of his horses Montana something.  And Hunter is off to a great start.  The precocious daughter of Rockslide and multiple stakes winner Hunter’s Event (Event of the Year x Zafonic) won a stake at Cheeseland Downs last time out after breaking her maiden south of the border.  No reason she can’t make it three straight.

The Apprentice sired Kingston Cat has yet to miss the board in five career tries.  This is the first foal of See Ya who is by Forest Wildcat.  Shamekha14’s filly will be making her stakes debut under jockey Clifford Cook.  Kingston Cat ran her best speed figure to date, a quick 76, while finishing a nice third in a Prairie Meadows allowance last time out.  Needs only a small step forward to be heard from on Saturday.

Rounding out our compact but classy field is Hollandia8’s promising speedster, Iva Motor.  The big Distorted Humor chestnut won her debut easily at Puerto Rico’s Commodore Park before settling for a very solid fifth behind three terrific graded winners in Arizona.  Next time out she passed nine horses while taking place honors in a North Dakota allowance and she punched her ticket to this Les Bois stake with a solid allowance tally in Rhode Island.  Clearly a huge factor in here.

This is anyone’s race.  Only favored New Found Pegasus has run this far and she was unsuccessful.  C’mon out and see what happens!
