The QUICK CAP Stakes

Yet another 2yo filly event this week at Delaware.  Eight to the post, with a maiden as the favorite.
Doesn’t lead one to believe that this is the classiest of fields.  However, a win in a stakes event
is something to hold high hopes on.

LUCKY’S CARMEL

Filly that appears to have had her heyday early on when stakes races were easier to win.  Competition gets tougher as the months go by. This filly will have to improve to be in this.

Filly overwhelmed in last at top level.  Back down where she would have a better chance if the track had come up sloppy.  Not totally out of it, but would have preferred a longer event.

Filly broke her maiden in last, but didn’t improve her SP.  Hard to visualize her improving here.

Still a maiden, but has the pedigree that others in here lack.  Her 1st race was on a level much higher then most here.  I can’t fault the odds maker given her favorite status.  She’s a scratch bred which adds to her status.  Top Jock aboard….looks real good.

Top notch trainer from DelPenn that tries to move his filly up in a race where she probably doesn’t fit well.  Out of a mare that hasn’t produced much.  Probably needs more maturity.

Broke maiden first out with impressive SP!  Not the greatest breeding, however she is fast.  Another scratch bred which IMO is the best way to go when looking for a champion.  Higher odds because of jock, who is only 2% in standings.  Trainer should give instructions.

Top sire here.  1st foal out of this mare, and a fairly good one.  Front runner going for 3rd straight.  Certainly should be in the mix in this race.  Jock is an honest sort that will have his hands full trying to rate her.  If she isn’t challenged too much in the first ¼ mile, she may just wire the field.

Scratch bred that has been impressive last since she first stepped onto the track.  Jock will need instructions as he isn’t the best.  Only concern is whether she peaked in her last.  If not, and the jock doesn’t do something dumb, she should be in the photo.

Grand Slam filly that was bred out of a “hebee”.  Ran a lackluster race last out, and may wind up on turf in the future.  The competition isn’t that tough here, so she may be in the mix.  Still, hard to ignore the turf background.
