1 Mile Wolfmother -G2 on the Bluegrass
Hello race fans and welcome to another addition of Hoof Beats . The juvenile division is heated up to the boiling point and the fillies are no exception . Turf is the course today ; 1 mile is the distance and $ 250,000 is waiting at the wire for the winner of this years Wolfmother -G2 for 2 yo fillies on a firm Kentucky track . We have a few graded , stakes and allowance winners in the field today ; all have been trained to perfection and are ready to go .
Drawing the wood with KY top rider D. Givins aboard is Tribal Odyssee 8 / 1 ( War Chant x Kingmambo x Theatrical (IRE) ) trained by Kyclocker3 . This leggy brown filly comes from proven stock , he mother Jaw Dropper was a multiple G1 winner herself and her daughter is carrying on the family tradition winning the Fauster’s Juvenile Cup -G1 in week 2881 over 6 furlongs . She has accumulated over $ 250,000 in earnings in 3 starts this season , her last appearance over this distance was a bit of a disappointment but she looks sharp today . A win today puts he back on track and will put her in a good position for a BB trip .
In post 2 wearing the silks of Kensei stable is Redoute’s World (AUS) 7 / 1 ( Redoute’s Choice (AUS) x Spinning World x Spectacular Bid ) with veteran jockey S . Blood in the irons . This classy looking brown filly is out of the stakes placed mare Dixie Chix and is well on her way to surpassing her mothers lifetime winnings . She has won 2 of her last 3 stakes races including her last race at The Seventh Heaven Challenge -Stk over 7 furlongs in NC posting a speedy 84 SP . She makes her first start at 8 furlongs today , her mother was a prolific router so i see no reason why she shouldn’t take to the mile like a duck to water .
In post 3 at 7 / 1 is the Chops27 trained Lenshaft ( Pine Bluff x Storm Cat x Alydar ) with veteran jockey P . Carrier aboard . In 4 starts this chestnut filly has been in stakes company twice , placing once in the The Hard Deputy Stakes -Stk in week 2937 . She makes a jump in class today and looks more than ready to race .
In post 4 with G . Lambert aboard is More than Beauty 12 / 1 ( Miesque’s Son x Storm Cat x Theatrical (IRE) ) representing Jrisquez stable . This brown filly is quite stunning living up to her name and is a crowd favorite back home in Florida . She makes her first run away from home this week , in her favor is the fact she has already run the mile previously and should make a good showing today .
In post 5 representing Theprofit7 is the biblically named And Jesus Wept 7 / 1 ( Refuse to Bend (IRE) x Street Cry (IRE) x El Gran Senor ) with veteran jock D. Sherman in the irons . This multiple stakes winning chestnut filly makes a trip across the pond this week to take on Americas class . Her only loss in 6 runs came last time out in France over good turf in the Moony Stakes -G3 7.5 furlongs in preparation for this race . Firm turf this week and she gets the nod to go . She likes to close so watch out America , she loves to have her nose out front at the wire .
In post 6 at long odds 41 / 1 is I Need A Loan ( Denon x Selkirk x Lyphard’s Wish (FR) ) with veteran jock A . Levell aboard . Trainer Jdawg11 gives the go ahead for his stakes placed filly to make the jump in class and distance . Her last race in The West Sky Challenge -Stk was over 5.5 furlongs in week 2951 in 1:05 and change , she needs to answer a lot of questions this run .
In post 7 is Flat Five 13 / 1 ( Kitten’s Joy x Spinning World x Miswaki ) from the Bodgit stable . Big winning newcomer L . Cardinal gets the assignment to guide this unbeaten , six figure earning light grey filly through her graded debut . She’s living up to her family tradition so far , her dam : Flat World is a G1 winner , multiple graded winner both sprinting and routing . This filly is the newest addition of winning progeny out of this family of six figure plus earners .
At 7 / 1 is Talking Gibberish ( Shamardal x Seeking the Gold x Northern Dancer ) in post 8 from the Foxon stable and ridden by longtime veteran P . Cadigan . This classy looking brown filly has won 2 of her last 4 starts including The Memphis Time Special -Stk in week 2909 . She has won over both surfaces this season but trainer Foxon has concentrated on the grass since her debut which has put her in the 6 figure earning category . Her last start was over 7.5 furlongs in graded company , improvement is expected this weekend if she plans to stay in this trainers barn .
In post 9 from the stables of Buffy6 is Tale of the Slayer 15 / 1 ( Dehere x Glitterman x Danzig ) ridden by journeyman jock N . Jacoby . This regally bred chestnut filly has won 2 of her last 4 starts and takes another shot at high level competition . Her last start was over this same distance in week 2944 in preparation for today’s graded event , i’m putting $100 on her to finish top 3 .
In post 10 trained by Strategy8 is Check the Washing (IRE) 24 / 1 ( Danehill Dancer (IRE) x Stage Door Johnny x Reviewer ) . This chestnut filly won her first 2 convincingly including her triumph in The Lil Ability CB Handicap -Stk in NJ week 2853 . She makes a jump in distance today with journeyman jockey C . Kendall aboard whom told me earlier ” This filly has a lot of grit and the extra distance will favor her “
In post 11 is A Fleet Cat 10 / 1 ( Afleet Alex x Storm Cat x Gold Exchanged ) wearing the silks of Be1stfarms and ridden by journeyman jockey B . Sipes . This Brown filly has been on FIRE of late winning her last 3 including at 8 furlongs in The Pink Liver (IRE) Memorial-Stk in week 2951 . A filly like this is ” All In ” every race and this week is no different , the jump up in class may be a detriment but i think she will take up the challenge with class .
At 9 / 1 representing trainer Proxy is Pacification ( Sadler’s Wells x Rahy x Theatrical (IRE) ) with old timer B . Alt in the irons . A compact brown filly , she keeps improving every start . Last time out she came up a little short in the stretch to place 3rd in the Sabrina Stakes -G3 week 2944 . She’s bred great , seems to get better with distance and doesn’t mind graded company … she could come up big this week .
In post 13 is trainer Redflag1 stables brown filly Jacobite Aria 17 / 1 ( Opera King x Testa Rossa (AUS) x Victory Gallop ) with journeyman jockey S . Lynch in charge . This filly won first asking and moved on to stakes company in The Nop Dropper Memorial -STK in week 2937 . She makes a run at 8 furlongs for the first time today in prime conditions against solid competition , all questions will be answered at the wire .
On the outside in post 14 is the favorite Royal Mambo 6 / 1 ( Royal Academy x Kingmambo x Cryptoclearance ) with newcomer jockey A . Alexander getting a big handout from trainer Deputysam . This beautifull chestnut filly broke her maiden first asking week 2944 and makes no bones about stepping into graded company this week . She likes to run right off the pace but her only race to date was over 6.5 furlongs . Rookie jock A. Alexander needs to save something for the stretch if he is going to continue this girls winning ways .
