Spotlight Race of the Day 2yo Allowance, Dubai 4/16

Two year old fillies will run on the dirt in Dubai, competing in a Non-winners of 2 lifetime.  The race distance is set to 5 furlongs and the track is fast.  All but one entrant has won a race in their young career and the field appears to be fairly matched.

1  Swasivious  6/1-Broke maiden in second start when asked to run 6 furlongs in last with 61 speed.   Showing desire to run late and trims back in distance which may work against this Eavesdropper child.

2  Speed Offence  4/1-Wired field in second try with 69 SP, taking race by 3/4-length.  Finished second in debut race, pressing the front entire way.  City Zip daughter could repeat.

3 Gilligan’s Revenge  8/1-Point Given bred daughter broke maiden first time out in January but finished mid-field fifth in last start with speed improving to 60.  Both were on the turf and she’ll test out the dirt which seems to be a reasonable decision for this lady.

4  Taxabeel  5/2-Disappointing grass run in last where she was non-competitive and finished mid-field eigth.  This followed the maiden breaking first start for this Saveabeel bred who won by stride and nice first time chart of 69.  Dirt may be the place to be.

5  Empire Ruler T  9/2-Empire Maker daughter kicked off her career in January by finishing a nice third when running with the boys.  Her race in March was where she broke her maiden going with the girls and taking the win by a length and nice 69 SP.   Has a shot here.

6  K’s Freelance  2/1-Has only one start which was at end of February.  The More Than Ready bred runner made it a nice one with 64 SP and winning by a fraction of a stride.   Repeat is a possibility.

7  Leonal Bella  33/1-Longshot has one start which came on the turf and finished in rear third of the field.  She’s out of Anton Pillar and will try to break maiden on dirt this time out.  Needs very best effort to overtake this group of winners.

Nice field and lots of possible winners.  I’m hedging with Empire Ruler T who ran well with the boys and even better with the girls.

Taxabeel gets second choice as she returns to dirt and may find the surface more appealing.

Speed Offence has pair of nice runs on front end and that is where the speed is in this race, third pick.
