BRABANT Wins Fifth Time as 2 Year Old!

More Glare Stakes
Grade II
Seven furlongs on Firm Turf
$250,000
Fillies and mares, 2 years old

When you have two year olds racing, you are always looking for someone to make a statement, to break out from the pack and that is exactly what BRABASONG did here in Ireland today. She showed that she’s got plenty of her Mom’s good genes and is turning into a force to be reckoned with. She won the More Glare Stakes rather easily and is pointed to bigger things ahead.

This beautiful light grey filly by UNBRIDLED’S SONG out of BRABATA has now won an amazing five of her first six races and was less than a length behind in the only blemish on her record. Trainer Brabant knows that he has something special in this filly and was correct in stretching her out a bit from her previous five and a half furlong races. She still seemed to pull up a bit at the wire and that will be a concern as to where he places her next time. Jockey Newcomb ran a masterful race keeping her right where she needed to be. She had her fastest SPF by far with a sizzling 90 that improved by 10 points on her previous best speed.

SILVER SLEEPER took the early lead but was being stalked by the winner until the half. She eventually dropped off at the end and eventually finished fifth. When BRABASONG took the lead, she threw it into another gear and never looked back. Pre Race favorite, LIGHTSEEKER ran an uninspired race throughout with a little spurt at the end to climb into second place. She just didn’t seem to be on her game today. TORCH THE FLAME passed a couple of tiring fillies at the end to finish third. BRABASONG certainly looks like she belongs in the Graded level and I will be watching to see if she can continue her current win streak.

Good luck to all runners!
