14 Three Year Old Fillies Line Up For The New Zealand Oaks

Fourteen 3 year old fillies line up for the New Zealand Oaks

POINT OUT MY FLAWS(1) will break from the rail for the ‘lgbost9y’ barn at 34-1. She comes off an underwhelming fourth place finish after a convincing stakes win the time before that. However, that race did show some promise for the young daughter of POINT OF ENTRY, as her speed figure improved to a 90 in that start. But the competition is much steeper this time and could be tough for this girl. EXBOURNE’S

SADROCK(2) sits at 12-1 after the step up from the G3 Tristan Fillies and the ‘vikingfarm’ barn hopes that she’ll improve from her last start where she finished 6th beaten by 10. 2 starts back however, she won by 2 in the G3 Royalty Stakes and has been posting 90+ speed figures since that date. Perhaps she simply didn’t like rider K Thompson? Either way, this daughter of FASTNET ROCK will also have her work cut out for her in this field of 14.

DOWNPOUR CAUSEWAY(3) comes off an impressive G1 effort finishing a game 3rd after coming back 12 lengths at the second call and coming in at a 100 speed rating. This daughter of POUR MOI sports jockey Z Hawkz and comes from the ‘amir1627’ barn in this step down into a G2. However, the downside to this horse is that these 12 furlongs will be the longest stretch of grass this horse has had to run in its w11 race career. Nonetheless, this horse is definitely game and is one to watch, with a great price at 7-1.

EXBOURNE’S CAMBOW(4) steps up into this G2 after a game finish in the G3 Tristan Fillies coming 3rd by 5 with a 95 speed figure. She was closing well every call meaning that the daughter of CAMELOT is eligible to notch her first G2 with the increased distance this time. This local bred filly should do well for ‘futurefarm’ stables this time, even in a step up, and you can find her at 12-1.

EVERYTHING SUCKS(5) is an ironic name for this daughter of DALAKHANI seeing as she finished a game second in her last start and is eligible to improve in this 2.5 furlong increase. This ‘lenny18’ production has never had a taste of the graded stakes level but after her last finish I can understand why Lenny decided to move her up on this one. She is a decent 10-1 price but may have some work ahead of her in this big step up.

OUTBACK BLACKALL(6) comes off a G3 win in the Triangular Star Stakes and looks the great on paper. The punters agree as she is the 5-1 chalk in the book and posted a fantastic 104 speed figure last time, the highest of the field. She also showed some G2 ability last time when she finished third by only a length and three quarters. The one downside is that the daughter of KITTEN’S JOY will enter the longest race of her life for ‘outback6’. She is a big contender in this one though, and will be right in it at the wire.

ENTER THE WELLS(7) raced second by a head last time closing the entire way and probably would have won with a distance extension such as the one the daughter of POINT OF ENTRY will get this time. On the downside, this ‘bigloozer’ filly (bigloozer is the barn, not an insult) was only in an allowance last time and has never won a stake despite being game in the three she’s entered. This is a tough one for the 11-1 filly as she will get a taste of her first graded stakes action in this one.

TIMEE(8) is the second choice at 5-1. Rightfully so, as this PIVOTAL filly conquered the covenant G3 Tristan Fillies (leading the entire route), which 4 other entries in this race failed to do. She also posted a 100 speed figure which is a slight improvement for this ‘2aussie Stables’ up-and-comer. There is tons of upside in this filly, especially the stamina of her, and is definitely a big contender in this one.

ZIPPED(9) races under P Boyd for the ‘snags’ stable this time after a 3rd place finish last time in a stake. The young daughter of DUBAWI has posted two 90+ speed figures in her past two starts. However, with no stakes wins under her belt, it could be a tough one for this 11-1 outsider.

JUNMAI DAGINJO(10) has been racing competitively in every race of her young career. She was only 3/4 of a length behind the winner in her last start (stakes), and in the G3 JPMC Jessemaine four races ago was only 3 3/4 lengths behind! She raced her quickest in her last start however, with a 97 speed rating. This super5 starter and daughter of MEGALIA D’ORO is a strong horse in this contest, not one to be taken lightly at 8-1.

PLEASUREKRAFT(11) could not convert on the step up finishing 5th beaten 10 lengths in her last start in the G3 level. However, she did race well before that in a stake, winning by a 3 length margin. Records show that she also couldn’t handle a G2 a few starts back, but has been improving since then, so we’ll see what she can do. 10-1 is a fair price for this ROCK OF GIBRALTAR filly. She races for ‘tees2’.

FRENYA(12) sits at 13-1 after a disappointing loss in the G1 VERMONTIS4LOVERS finishing 12th. ‘Imagipper’ has high hopes for this GIANT’S CAUSEWAY filly, though she’s only won one race which was an allowance by half a length. She seems to get better the longer the distance, so this filly could surprise us come Saturday. She’ll race under jockey L Slater.

MAMBO MACABRE(13) breaks from the far outside after a 10th place finish in the Tristan Fillies, also finishing with an 85 speed rating. This ‘super15’ filly by DANSILI had finished a game second 2 starts back in a G3, and stepped into an overwhelming field next time. At 10-1, this filly shows a lot of upside and could be game in this one. I like her.

GAME SET AND MATCH(14) rounds out the field starting from the far outside, and collected her first stakes win the last time she raced. Back in her 2yo season, she only lost by 3 in a G2 proving that she can compete. At 12-1, this ‘goldeneye2’ trained daughter of MOST IMPROVED is worth a shot, and I am excited to see what she can to in this one. This rounds out the field ladies and gentlemen, thank you for reading and good luck to all of the connections of the entrants in this race. Happy racing!
