Sweden’s Diana Classic G3
Hello race fans and welcome to another edition of Hoof Beats . Across the pond to Sweden we go to take a good look at this weeks $ 150,000 Diana Classic – G3 for 3 yo fillies on lush turf . Rain was forecast for the event and the weatherman is right ,downpours all week have turned the track into a ” Good ” rating making the handicapping agent’s job that much tougher .
On the rail at 5 / 1 is royally bred chestnut filly Fit of Joy ( Sadler’s Wells x Kingmambo x A.P. Indy ) from the Peeps10 stable . P . Ibrox gets the assignment to steer this multiple stakes winning filly to the wire today . After a light 2yo season trainer Peeps10 got her off to a fast start wracking up 5 wins in a row . Her last 2 starts were mediocre efforts but jockey Ibrox assures me she is ready to give up a Herculean effort .
In post 2 is Alybobbob’s Buckland Manor 6 / 1 ( Red Ransom x Storm Cat x Mr. Prospector ) with 5 wins this season . This filly really loves the mile distance but has yet to bust into a triple digit SP effort in either the U.S. or Europe . R . Lyles in the irons today could be the difference between a win and a lesser showing .
In post 3 at 8 / 1 is Can of Whoop As ( Wolfhound x Prized x Katowice ) This leggy brown filly has K. Thomas aboard and trainer Betdahouse is hoping for another winning effort from his cleverly claimed filly . His personal touch took her from claim to fame , winning first time out for him and going on to become a winning machine in the 3 yo stakes arena early this year . She has won 2 of her last 5 starts … all of which were 9 furlongs + ; she is coming back to familiar distance today .
In post 4 at 6 / 1 with T. O ‘shea aboard is Peyragudes ( Unbridled’s Song x El Prado (IRE) x Ack Ack ) from the Limpid stable . This light grey filly had an outstanding 2yo season winning on both surfaces though her only stakes win came on the grass . Enter the 3yo season and turf is all she has seen finishing in the money her first 7 races with 3 wins between 7.5 and 8.5 furlongs . Her last 3 starts were less than spectacular but trainer Limpid feels that all the wrinkles have been ironed out and she is ready to resume her winning ways .
In post 5 is Cannot Comply 7 / 2 ( Rahy x Kingmambo x Lyphard ) from the Super13 stable . P . Jones gets the nod to guide the morning line favorite in her drop down to stakes level . Her 2yo season was extremely promising with 5 wins in 7 starts and making the leap to graded company to start her 3yo campaign . She has won 3 this year including a triple digit effort in the Lilispelis Cup -G2 over this same track at the same distance . Trainer Super13 is hoping lightning CAN strike twice and get this classy filly back to her winning form .
In post 6 representing Lbgong is Ascendancy 5 / 1( Rainbow Quest x Sadler’s Wells x Le Fabuleux ) with M. Mason aboard . This brown filly raced only 3 times in her 2yo season winning twice coming from behind and put up a promising 90 SP in her last effort . Trainer Lbgong saw promise and started her off in graded company earlier this year hitting a show in the John DeKeyser -G1 on yielding turf , and winning her last 2 of 3 starts . An off track today could favor this fillies effort .
In post 7 at 9 / 1 is Zalamy stables Azancita ( ) Winning first time out on dirt she continued her 2yo career giving a 2nd place finish in The Pleasant Ginger Bonanza -Stk over a mile in MA . Nonplussed trainer Zalamy pursued her dirt career this season early with 2 places respectively . A switch in surface made the difference winning 4 in her last 7 starts including her last race in The Nurse Ship Challenge -Stk . Judging by a previous effort on an off track her trip today shouldn’t be effected so jockey J . Jacobsson’s check status is in his own hands .
In post 8 is Dynamin at 6 / 1 ( Dynaformer x Deputy Minister x Greinton (GB) ) with A. Park in the irons . Trained by Leesnyder , this brown filly has been on fire of late winning 5 of 6 starts this season from 8 furlongs to 9.5 furlongs with her only loss resulting in a second place finish . Her 2 yo season was similar with 2 wins , 1 place and 1 5th place effort . Winning is a contagious thing and Leesnyder is looking to be an epidemic .
In post 9 is Ride for Show (IRE) 6 / 1 ( Indian Ridge (IRE) x Bold Bidder x Luthier (FR) ) from Flurgen5 stable , W. Farthing aboard . This brown filly has 3 wins in her last 5 starts including a convincing appearance in The Damsel Handicap -Stk and 2 triple digit SP efforts in her last 3 . She ran well on an off track in her Debut last season and should handle the mile well on GOOD turf this weekend .
On the outside in post 10 is Don’t Doubt Her (AUS) at 28 / 1 ( Redoute’s Choice (AUS) x Lil E. Tee x Danzig ) from the G1robbo stable ; W. Turnbull gets the nod . This brown filly made her debut early this season in Dubai breaking her maiden 3 races ago . Her only start in stakes company resulted in a hotly contested 2nd place finish over 8 furlongs in The Gracefull Lee Memorial -Stk where she gave up her greatest effort to date . The real question on G1robbo’s mind is if this filly can recapture that winning spirit today .
