Benny Being Fast
Benny Being Benny improved her sprint ranking to number two in the world with an awesome win in
As expected, the early pressure was hot as through the first three furlongs four fillies ran in a line. The winner was joined by Incredible Peg, Little Cat, and Seeking the Hawk.
It is always impressive to see one horse stick around after such a tough pace battle, but this race saw three valiant efforts from the front runners. Incredible Peg, out of the TG1 stable, held on for third, and Seeking the Hawk, out of the Lotto barn, actually stuck her nose out in front at the top of the lane before settling for the place.
EBryant, trainer of Benny Being Benny, has now guided her to six wins in her seven race career. Her lone loss came in a route, and in that race she had a sizable lead after three quarters of a mile. It was the second straight grade one win for the lightly raced filly, and it came against a very strong field and in conditions that would not seem to favor an early runner.
More Than Ready, sire of the winner, has two graded winners among the 58 starters in Benny’s cohort.
The favorite in the race, Cheyenne Gold, suffered her second defeat after three straight graded wins. She was not a factor in this race.
