Race: 2867.0414 Cosmopolitan Handicap – Grade I – $750,000
Track:
New York
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old and up

Journey Man ran like a favorite winning the Cosmo Mile in impressive fashion. This is the first year he has run this many times in a row and his consistency has been outstanding. In six races this year he has already run four 110+ speed figures which is amazing. Journey Man ran his typical race sitting near the back and closed with a rush. He circled to within six lengths at the top of the stretch and cruised by the rest of the field to win by a length and three quarters.

Upper Management ran a very nice race finishing second. He sat behind the early pace of Taking Risks in sixth position almost seven lengths back. He moved up around the turn into contention and set his sights on Taking Risks who was tiring in the stretch. About the time Upper Management got to Taking Risks Journey Man blew by both of them. Upper Management was second and Taking Risks lasted for third.

Race: 2867.0115 Movieland Turf Cup – Grade I – $400,000
Track:
California
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one quarter on the Turf

Balerion pulled off a minor upset scoring his second grade I win in a row. He broke from the gates well, established an early lead and made the rest of the field pay for not making him work more. Once he established a two length lead he never gave it up winning by two and a half lengths. Confederacy (IRE) chased Balerion from second the whole way around the track. He was unable to threaten the entire way. Jupiter’s Moons (IRE) was one of the few horses in this field to gain much ground on the winner. After sitting near the back he moved well through the stretch gaining a few lengths but never really threatened finishing third two and three quarter lengths back.

Race: 2867.0114 My Girl Handicap – Grade I – $400,000
Track:
California
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one sixteenth on the Dirt

Swift Kick made short work of this short field. Swift Kick got ideal stalking position from third and when asked she kicked home strongly to win by two and a quarter lengths. She ran another top notch speed figure and she appears to be a rarity these days. She was a filly classic winner at three and is still running strong at four years of age.

Quiet Glory did her thing jumping out the early lead. She was clear much of the race and had a near four length lead on the field at one point. Entering the stretch though Swift Kick was eating away at the lead and went by Quiet Glory in the stretch. Any other day and Quiet Glory wins but today she had to settle for second. Northerly Nicole was near the back of this short field in the early stages. She made up some ground in the stretch to finish a non threatening third four and a quarter lengths behind the winner.

Race: 2867.0316 I’m Back Again For Good – Grade I – $500,000
Track:
Kentucky
Restrictions: All horses, 4 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one eighth on the Turf

Seeking Sal ran one of those big races he has been running the first part of this year and smoked em. Seeking Sal stalked the early pace of Causes Wood (IRE) from fourth place. He was never too far off the pace making a quick move around the turn for home to get into contention less than two lengths off the pace. From there he kept on determinedly gobbling up Causes Wood (IRE) and Redsadky in the stretch to pull away for a two and three quarter length win.

Redsadky stalked the pace of Causes Wood (IRE) from second and around the turn for home Redsadky had moved up to Causes Wood (IRE) taking a short lead at the top of the stretch. Seeking Sal was too much for either of these runners. Redsadky finished second while Causes Wood (IRE) faded a bit finishing third five and a half lengths behind the winner.
