Megalopolis Brings You Crabcake Zillions/ Mountain State Classics #2 on October 18th
So we approach Year 2 of the Crabcake Zillions/ Mountain State Classics, set this year for Saturday, October 18th. Races take place in both sim Maryland and sim West Virginia. This is the date that the real life state-bred stakes races take place at Laurel and Charles Town.
The races are open to all horses bred in the sim region (MD, NJ, MA, NH, ME, CT, WV). You need not be a member of the Megalopolis Racing Circuit. But bear in mind that these races are purchased with the credits earned through residency membership. So thanks to all the members this year, and if you aren’t a member, why not throw us a stable of support?
Before we get to a rundown of the Crabcake Zillions/ Mountain State Classics races, I have one other important announcement to make – another stakes race that IS restricted to our residency members. I hope all the residency participants had fun with the Kill Van Kull this summer, which was an “invitational” modeled after the Haskell. For this fall, I have added a turf route stakes for the residency members (not restricted by breeding location), who can enter any horse from their master stable. This is the DC International Invitational, at twelve furlongs three years old and up, in Maryland on Saturday, November 8, 2014. For some decades, Laurel Park ran the Washington DC International, an invitational turf race that brought runners from many countries, including the Soviet Union. So let’s celebrate that history with a little tussle on the turf. Bring your good grass horses who maybe aren’t up to the Breeders Bowl level. I’ll send out the password to residency members soon.

I celebrated my birthday back on September 24th with some allowance prep races for the big Zillions day. In the Zillions prep, sophomores did best, with CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE beating last year’s Meier Juvenile winner CROSSING TO WIN. MEDITERRANEAN Z won the distaff prep off a sharp claim, running a route for the first time. It remains to be seen if LORD SUCKFEST will show up in the Hold Your Taters to try to repeat his wire-to-wire win in the sprint prep. It was a wire job as well in the filly sprint prep, with BALTIMORE AGAIN taking the honors. POTRA SALVAJE was second to NICE BEING HERE earlier this summer in the Ho-Ho-Kus, but without that rival, she got the job done in the female turf prep. Megalopolis veteran FAX SAFETY took advantage of a short field and the faltering of favorite CHARTOM to take the marathon prep. The juvenile fillies were closely matched, but FRIESAN NATION came out on top. Among the juvenile colts, HUNTING JADE WARS bounced back from his disappointing Stripling loss with a come from behind move. Finally, only four turf sprinters showed up, and CANTON BEACH took the prep as the very heavy favorite.
Congratulations to the prep winners, and hope to see you at the Zillions!
I’m sending last yrs champions Alybells- bullet catcher marathon , Bronze note dolly sprint back to defend their titles , good luck every one
Thanks FF!!! I plan to support the races with numbers (if I can’t do it with quality) 😛
My filly Mediterranean Z has been entered in the Bushy Tailed Distaff, her stakes debut… claimed her 2 starts ago for $50k, put her right into your allowance prep and she won that, and now she’ll be going after her 7th straight win!
