The Silent View challenge stakes looked close on paper, but Hollaback Girl turned it into a bit of a walkover. Super23’s filly jumped out into a decent position before Anderson managed to get a pull and settled her just behind a wall of horses in 6th. She was always loping along comfortably in mid division and her pilot looked extremely confident, even when the favourite, Gold Forest opened up a nice lead on the field. Most of those in the van were fading, with only the leader making a fist of forcing the pace, when Anderson pushed the button on his mount. While she didn’t exactly tear past her rivals, it was clear that she was travelling best of all and it looked to be a matter of time, an impression that was soon confirmed as she swept into the lead with half a furlong to go and comfortably held the field by a length and a quarter. Her speed rating of 102 was more than good enough to beat these, and she seems to be finding a level of consistency which could see her progress nicely.
Smart Kirby ran on nicely to take second, with a 100 speed and Man on fire made eye catching progress from the rear to take third ahead of the game Gold Forest who was just touched off into fourth.
The winner returned 7/1 which could be the biggest price we see from her at this level for a while.
