Buckland Manor cruise to victory in Fantastic Ollie Handicap
Buckland Manor had took control at the top of the stretch to cruise to victory in this week’s Fantastic Ollie Handicap. She chalked up her third win in a row, and her fourth in six career starts. This was her first stakes win. This win pushed her career earnings to over $100K to $114410, and crept her up to rank 123 in the three year old filly Turf Classic Division. She still has a lot of racing ahead of her, and this daughter of Red Ransom appears like she will be a force to be dealt with down the line. On the betting side of the day, while no one broke the bank, some bettors took home decent money, with Buckland Manor paying $8.10 $4.20 $3.00 across the board. The exacta paid $35.90 and there was a payout of $104.20 for the trifecta.
New Rack(AUS) and Giant Strides(IRE) provided the early speed in this one, taking charge early from the gate, with Hunter Angel right on their tail. New Rack(AUS) managed to shake them off somewhat, opening up a length at the half. There was a very uniform move by the closers just past the half, with no one filly really blazing, but several gradually eating up the small lead established by the front runner. As they hit the top of the stretch though, Buckland Manor turned on the speed, and didn’t leave any doubts in this one, leaving the rest behind to take it at the wire by two and a half lengths. Naiade(IRE) came from nearly five out at the half, closing hard till Buckland Manor turned on the jets, and she grabbed second place honors. Hunter Angel kept the third place she held throughout most of the race, three lengths out at the finish.
