Two for Two

Home is the best place to be, at least according to one two year old we know.  Redwolf, the classy Johannesburg colt out of the stylez3 barn proves he loves his South Dakota home turf, wiring a field of six in the Senior Don Memorial Stakes, and taking home the winner’s share of the $50,000 purse.

Redwolf has two races under his belt now, both on the South Dakota lawn, and he has led every step of the way in both races.  For most of this effort he was challenged by Milfly’s Soup.  Lafly has now trained Milfly to in-the-money finishes in five of six starts.  The chestnut colt faded after challenging to the top of the stretch, watched Spastic Zips fly by, but held gamely for third.

Favored in the race, Spastic Zips tried to close from well out of it, got the place, but was no match for the winner.  The jiger4 trainee may have found his preferred surface and may just be looking for a longer effort.

Kirby Country, trained by Kirby66, and  Fall Down, trained by kid6, ran evenly.  Jockey O beach, seeing Kirby’s Legend was overmatched, saved the colt for another day.
