A Couple of Very Promising Young Fillies!

The ZIG MY MILL Stakes
Stakes
Five and one half furlongs on Firm Turf
$60,000
Fillies and mares, 2 years old

We are in Illinois to take a look at this year’s crop of youngsters. They all have dreams of being in the big races next year. Some will make and some will not. It won’t take long to week some of them out. Let’s take a look:

#1 BRABASONG trainer – Brabant, ( 9/5), Jockey – R.Logan (19%), Avg Sp # (73.3)
(UNBRIDLED’S SONG x SADLER’S WELLS x MILL REEF) Sometimes the morning line seems to be setting these lines after a night of partying. This pretty light grey filly has run an 80 SPF in her last race which is 10 points higher than anyone else in the race. She is two for two in her two starts and yet she is not the favorite. Go figure. I’m sure choosing her, trainer Brabant has done a masterful job getting her ready and jockey Logan is one of this tracks best. Bet on this one.

#2 SAPPHO trainer – Knightess, ( 8/5), Jockey – C.Noe (9%), Avg Sp # (70.4)
(DYNAFORMER x KINGMAMBO x LE FABULEUX) The one fly in the ointment could be this Dynaformer offspring, trained by Knightess. She has only run once but it was a win at 70 SPF. If she has the normal improvement for her second race, she could contend for the win. She loves the lead and should grab it easily here.

#3 ALLURING SOUL(IRE) trainer – SingleAll, ( 12/1), Jockey – F.Sinks (6%), Avg Sp # (64.9)
(PERFECT SOUL (IRE) x LURE x TASSO) Big improvement and a win when moving from dirt to the green stuff. With a little improvement she could challenge here and she is the long shot. Trainer SingleAll thinks that this filly is on track to throw some surprises and this could be one of them.

#4 RITES OF SPRING(IRE) trainer – Supero, ( 5/2), Jockey – D.McCants (12%), Avg Sp # (63.0)
(DANEHILL DANCER (IRE) x KINGMAMBO x SIR IVOR) Irish bred filly out of Come Dancing who won her first race and it was at this distance. She came from way back and weaved through the large field then shifted gears and flew down the stretch for the win. A bit of a bump in speed figure will get her onto the board and possibly into the circle.

#5 TIME TO GET ROWDY trainer – Corzal, ( 10/1), Jockey – T Wang (6%), Avg Sp # (N/A)
(E DUBAI x STORM CAT x ATTICUS) This fields veteran with three races under her belt, she won her first on dirt then backed up with lesser performances the next two. She is shifting to the grass as trainer Corzal hopes the speed she displayed that first time will transfer well. We will see.

#6 CJ’S SAINT trainer – CJWalker ( 9/1), Jockey – M Reveiz (12%), Avg Sp # (68.5)
(SAINT AFLEET x NIGHT SHIFT x LOMOND) This filly had a “Saintly” start with a win at the DelPenn futurity for two year old turfers with a nice 68 SPF. That was a five furlong race which should work well as she looked stronger than anyone at the end. Jockey Reveiz is in the irons and is known for guiding these youngsters around the oval..

Morning Line = 2-1-4-6
Yoss Tipsheet = 1-2-6-4
Paz Picks = 1-2-4-6
Who really knows with these juveniles but I like CJ’S SAINT to finish fourth but could easily win this race. I’ll take RITES OF SPRING to do her weaving act again but only for third. I am taking the two speed burners for the top two spots, with SAPPHO just missing out to BRABASONG who will end up in the winners circle.

Good luck to all runners!
