Small Field Chase Stakes Status

A disappointing field of only 5 2yo Fillies face the starter for the Jello Hana Stakes this week at Japan but some look to have a big future if they can step up in this race. Lets take a look,

RARE TREASURE (kwswps2) even ~ This regally bred filly by Gone West out of a Rahy mare has done everything right so far with 2 from 2 winning on both surfaces including a 70SP on turf. This is obviously a shade harder but class should just about get her home. Well deserved favourite in early betting.

A WEE BIT IRISH(IRE) (buttons) 4/1 ~ This filly out of up and coming sire Doyen, came from well back on debut when scoring then just missed at her first try at allowance class going down by only half a length when running 2nd. Should get a nice sit just off the pace and be there at the business end.

FOOTSTEPSONTHEROOF(GB) (zeco7) 5/2 ~ Being thrown in the deep end here, this filly from Footstepsinthesand is one from one after leading all the way on debut. Will more than likely lead here too but will be under pressure all the way. The final furlong will test her.

MEET THE HERO (luckbargin) 17/1 ~ The outsider in the race, this bargain bred filly would need to lift several levels to compete here even though she won last start. Winning SP was only 55.

FLYING MARG(AUS) (dowelly2) 3/1 ~ This Flying Spur filly just went down on debut but made amends in great style last start winning a restricted Maiden when coming from near the tail of the field. Will be hitting the line harder than any other runner and her SP of 70 when winning last start compares well with the favourite. A big danger.

A very interesting race with probably 4 chances. RARE TREASURE and FLYING MARG look to have the SP’s to fight it out but any improvement by FOOTSTEPSONTHEROOF and A WEE BIT IRISH will see them come into commission. Juvenile racing is unpredictable at the best of times and this race will be no different.
