Former Auction Pickup Wins Graded Race!

The After Shave Sprint Stakes
Grade II
Six furlongson Firm Turf
$500,000
All horses, 3 years old

Okay, so I’m kicking myself for not picking this winner outright. I even talked him up in the preview but couldn’t pull the trigger. That won’t be a problem again, as LONGSHOT BUBA sure showed what he is made of in this Grade II race in Victoria. Trainer IansPlugs was ecstatic about the progress and Graded win of his prized colt that he had picked up in auction last year after his first race. He switched surfaces for the colt and the rest as they say, is history.

Our winner has now run eight times on the turf with an incredible seven wins and one second by a head. He keep improving and now has won five Stakes races including this Graded and has earned over half a million dollars in winnings. Not bad for a pickup in the auction! He is by far the number one offspring of CEE’S TIZZY with almost twice as much as the next highest horse who has run 28 races.

METAL RUSH took the early lead in this race and held on until the final turn where he was reeled in by WOETTE’S POWER who ended up in second with a very nice showing. Third went to RAKTAVIJA who barely nosed out FLEET OVERTURE . No one could match our winner though as the big charcoal colt made the final turn on the outside in fifth and flew down the stretch and won going away.

Now it remains to be seen what trainer IansPlugs will do next with this nice three year old. You can bet there will be plenty of folks scouring the auction this week looking for the next LONGSHOT BUBA !
