Jocko spoils the party

Why doesn’t that little sucker ride like that for me?

That’s what West Virginia Stakes Competition players are saying in the aftermath of watching Jocko Maloney boot home CONBARRO ($18.20) to win the $40,000, 1 5/8-mile Gulch Walaki Stakes.

Reserved early in sixth and falling behind by as many as 11 lengths, Conbarro started to move at just about the same time Ts1442’s ROYAL FORTY INDY was overtaking early race leader DESERT DISH. He hit the front with plenty of momentum in the stretch and went on to win much the best.

Ts1442 did not win the race, but sweeping second and third with his entry will pay the same five points. Nice form turnaround in the show spot by TOM’S SHINING STAR.
