Six old girls go to the post in todays feature at rainy arizona downs, the
downpour has downgraded the normally lightning fast track to a unpredictable
sloppy with no end in sight for this rainstorm. Lets take a look at the six
ladies who will brave the elements in search of a stake win today.
POST POSITION 1-SATIN IN A COFFIN- two things jump out at me with this horse
first of all it won in convincing fashion in its first offering on a off track
you like to see that and she runs a stalking style that seems to be working here
on a sloppy track here and her owner/trainer eddie72 says that she was kicking to
trailer walls down on the trip from arkansas this horse is ready to put forth a
big effort and I agree this horse will be a factor in this race.
POST POSITION 2-FOXY COXY- the veteran of the race at seven still running like
she is a juvenile. big win last time out i was trying to look up her past
performances and some of them were written in stone and autographed by moses, but
i think they said that she was a going to be a monster. what is even more impressive
is that none of her 13 wins have been have been of the claiming variety this horse
is the picture of consistency. as for her chances today? how can you not like her in
any race she runs she can run without a jock and blindfolded and be competitive, but
today her front running style will be severely challenged by the front running K’S ARAKU
and that speed may be too much for this wily vet to overcome today.
POST POSITION 3-FRED’S CASTLE- The longshot in today’s field at 8/1 and that is because of his all or nothing running style, he needs the front to be successful but his problem
is that he does not have that kick at the beginning to outrun other horses, and in this one
we know that FOXY COXY is going to shoot for the lead so that puts FRED’S CASTLE catching dirt early and that normally spells disaster for this filly i think that she will gradually
fade away from the from of the race into the oblivion of the clouds today.
POST POSITION 4-GOD’S FURY -How can you not like a horse named god’s fury in the middle of the worse rain this area has seen in 5 or 6 years?? well there are a couple of negatives to the 9/5 shot one being this is uncharted waters as this horse has never been this far and has yet to really run a big one this year has the grueling schedule from last year taken it’s toll on this horse?? the horse has the class over this field and the jockey O Sweeney says she is working better than he has seen her in sometime i personally think that this is going to be another non winning favorite out here in arizona.
POST POSITION 5-K’S ARAKU- threw out a dud last time out but i think that was just a warm up for this race, the rest of the field hopes that she has hit her wall, i spoke with kronus and he said that they were pointing for this race for revitalization project she just needed to run with other people so this race she should be ready to battle!! if she makes the front and puts away FOXY COXY, and FRED’S CASTLE without much of a battle she should walk this field home in the rain.
POST POSITION 6-EMPIRE DANCER- seems to be doing just enough to pick up checks latety but kelsobarn really loves this horse and thinks this is her race to win. I happen not to agree but hey where would you be without any confidence. i think this is a good horse to put on the bottom of your trifecta ticket. This horse likes to dropback and make a big run but this track when it is wet discourages that type or run especially with the overall lack of speed in this race she should be third maybe even second but i don’t think she can beat K’S ARAKU.
