2 years olds Wanting to Strive To Join Elite Club
Six Furlongs firm Turf $45,000
All horses 2 years old
It is still early in the two year old campaign, but for those owners that elected to go for the early prizes, the third annual The Men’s Exclusive Stakes can beviewed as a stepping stone toward bigger awards. All five of these runners come in with one win under their belt (girth), and while one entry will be testing grass for the first time, the rest of the field has tasted a bit of success already.
As for the field for the running of the 2006 The MEN’S EXCLUSIVE Stakes
PP1 | prado’s big fan(iRE) | Owner- | Ticketman | Jockey- | K Naber | Odds | 8/5 |
El Prado(IRE) x Lear Fan
He led gate to wire to win in his debut. However, that win was over a “yielding” surface, so some question looms on how well, this two year old will handle a firm surface.
PP2 | Owner- | Wonder1 | Jockey- | T Mafit | Odds | 9/5 |
Pure Prize x Polish Numbers
After two strong runs (one win, one second) on dirt, he will be shifted to the grass for this event. His final times in his trips on dirt has been solid and he has shown a lot of potential, so a less than stellar trip will probably prompt a return to dirt.
PP3 | PIECES OF A DREAM(IRE) | Owner- | Slacker | Jockey- | S Carter | Odds | 9/2 |
Chevalier(IRE) x
After a poor debut on dirt, this two year old bounced back in a maiden breaking trip on the turf. He led gate to wire at this same distance, and finished strong. He is out of one of Danehill’s lesser known offspring CHEVALIER(IRE), but ownership is optimistic that he has the talent to make it big.
PP4 | SOULSEEKER | Owner- | Jessimare2 | Jockey- | T Renfoe | Odds | 4/1 |
Sakhee x Agnes World
He broke his maiden in his second trip on grass. In both of his previous runs, he has shown the ability to “kick into gear” the last half mile and may be even better when he can stretch out to greater distances.
PP5 | NODOUTE YOUDA PRO(AUS) | Owner- | Cjit5 | Jockey- | D Esperado | Odds | 6/1 |
Redoute’s Choice(AUS) x Northern Drake(AUS)
Traveled over a wet turf, rated good, to win in his debut by a length. Return visit to the track was a disappointing showing on the dirt. I would expect him to stay on the turf for many races to come. Led gate to wire on the soft surface, but showed no signs of tiring in the stretch.
This race features five previous winners- each with hopes of capturing their first stakes event with a performance that will boost them into the elite of the two years old. prado’s big fan(iRE) ran well on a very soft turf in his debut, and I am leaning toward him responding favorably to a firmer trip this time out. SOULSEEKER will sit off the pace and a strong finish will pull him into contention in the stretch. PIECES OF A DREAM(IRE) will continue to proof that he is for real with a nice run.
