Eight classy lassies go postward in Saturday’s feature.  Here they are in post position order:

Storied Past is the “now” horse.  Never off the board in seven career starts, the blueblooded daughter of Red Ransom and the sensational multiple graded winning racemare Belle Trumpet (Storm Cat x A. P. Indy) ($950,000+) has won four stakes in a row in very, very impressive fashion.  Last time out, in The Grade III Warfare Farms Stake, trainer Corrections’ pride and joy closed from seventh in mid-stretch to gun down a stellar field.  This is a very special filly who deserves a long look.

The Blue Sword(gb) is the second of three talented runners from twelve year-old Niner Niner (Forty Niner x Alzao).  The precocious Diesis(gb) lass opened her career with a bang, winning her first four starts, two of them stakes.  Then came a pair of thirds in graded company.  Following a dismal performance in The Breeders Bowl Juvenile Filly Turf, trainer Aalusive switched surfaces.  The change paid immediate dividends as The Blue Sword(gb) won New York’s The Lost Brook Memorial Stake in her dirt debut.  Then came three losses, two in Grade I company.  Last time out a return to the dirt and a drop to conditioned allowances got her back on the winning track.  Capable of handling these with her best effort.

Negreira arrives in fine form having finished a close up second in a German stake last time out.  The big brown Gone West filly is the only foal of lightly raced (two lifetime starts) Noelia(ire) by Theatrical(ire).  Trainer Noia, who is rapidly closing in on career win number 200, is probably best known as the conditioner of the fine dirt marathoner, Kris Noia.  This is a tough spot for Negreira who has yet to win on the dirt.  Later.

Crabby Patties is the first and only graded winner sired by Pikepass.  The rangy daughter of the stakes placed Danehill mare, Pooped Out, got her GW designation last year for winning the Grade I Getaway Stakes in New York.  She’s raced well so far this year but is still winless in five attempts.  She opened the year in the Grade I Sky Beauty in Kentucky.  The good news is that she was beaten only one length.  The bad news is that four fillies arrived at the line before her.  Then she was a close up fourth in Equinics’ Longden followed by a second and fourth in stakes company.  Trainer Inzamam4 debuted her on the lawn last time out and she was a solid third behind the drop and pop turf specialist, Dynagreen.  Only needs a little luck to get back to her winning ways.

Tryarder’s Eswarah will break from gate five.  The chestnut daughter of Cat Thief is rather ambitiously placed here.  She’s still eligible to first level allowance company.  That’s likely to still be the case following this event.

Looking to take a big bite out of this field is Vrcomp’s Royal Anthem filly, Dracula II.  The flashy chestnut exits a Tampa Stake in which she faded to sixth after setting the early fractions.  She did win a New Mexico stake five back but is untested in graded company and looks to be a step slower than the top ones in here.  Nice filly in a difficult situation.

Strolling For Gold (Stroll x Mining x Arazi) won three of her first four lifetime starts last year including the Grade II Red Fish Blue Fish in Dubai.  But she’s dropped nine straight since then and is looking to regain her winning ways.  Buzzfarm’s homebred has come close recently, finishing second in her last two outings.  Two back she chased the sensational K’s Stand Tall home and last time out she was second to the razor sharp Stagecoach Dream.  Can be the one with the right trip.

Last, but not least, is Ldstable’s talented In The Spirit.  The pretty, gray Devil’s Bag filly arrives in career best form.  She had a three race winning streak snapped by the white hot Tale Of Seattle in a Tassie headliner last time out.  In The Spirit sports a 5-2-1 record in ten dirt starts and captured Italy’s Believe It Or Not Stake two back.  Untried at the graded level so this will be a severe test of class.
