Pedigree: Point Given X Forty Niner X Blushing Groom (IRE)

I went to trainer lenny1’s stable to try to get his beat on the chances of his filly Five Points. I asked here and there, but he was nowhere to be found. Finally I caught up with him in the barn of Five Points. He was showing her the Black Type Bugler PP’s, specifically her performance on the Grade II Los Vinegrette Stakes, in which she outclassed the field with a 94 SF. We began the conversation showing him the ML assigned to her: 19-1.

“I don’t blame the oddsmaker for the ML. He has run awful in her last two races. But in both of them she had excuses. In the Sleepy Fan, she was way too close to the pace. She likes it a little bit more reserved. And on her last race, the Grade I Look Oaks, she found herself into a pond, so I will throw away that one. I can assure you she is in much better form for this one. I know we need to step it up a notch to win, but hey, it’s the Oaks, and she is a talented filly. Why don’t give her the chance?”

We said good bye to lenny1, wishing him the best of luck with Five Points. At 19-1, she is in a very tough spot, but stranger things have happened.
