The SENORITA LEA Memorial Stakes

Welcome to the race re-cap of the SENORITA LEA Memorial Stakes, which was run Saturday at 7 furlongs for 3yo Fillies on a firm turf course.  The $60,000 Stakes drew a small field of four for the day’s feature race. The Post time favorite was Dixieland Again who went postward at even money.

When the gates opened Bradycardia (GB) quickly assumed the lead as they headed down the backside.  Northern Hope the long shot in the field was between horses and in the second position.  The favorite Dixieland Again was just to her outside and Go FL Gators had a ground saving trip going along the inside.  As they traveled through the far turn Bradycardia (GB) was holding on to that lead which had become as much as two lengths and Northern Hope was starting to fade.  Dixieland Again was under way and Go FL Gators was making a move as well.  As they entered the top of the lane Bradycardia (GB) had tired from her earlier efforts and Dixieland Again took the lead.  At this point Go FL Gators was in full gear and ran Dixieland Again down shortly after that one assumed the lead and drew off to win by a half length.  Dixieland Again conyinued on well to be much the best of the others over Bradycardia (GB) who finished third and a well beaten Northern Hope.

Congratulations to winning trainer oncloud9 who wins for the 6th time in 13 starts and ups her bankroll to $253,240.  She is now ranked in the top 20 for 3yo filly sprint turfers at #19. She ran the 7 panels in 123. 2/5 for a 91SP.  This beat reporter also had the trifecta a whopping $15.00 score.
