The SENORITA LEA Memorial Stakes

Welcome to Upstate New York for this week’s feature, which will have but 4 entrant’s contesting for the winner’s share of the $60,000 offered in Today’s SENORITA LEA Stakes.  The race will be run at 7 furlong’s on a firm turf course.  Of the four strater’s only two have gone postward in a Stakes event and both have won.  The other two are stepping up and seeing how they might compare with better. A four horse field is as good as place as any for a first timer.  It appears all four of these want to be on or very close to the lead and the race does lack a late runner.  The morning line favorite is DIXIELAND AGAIN and will break from the outside post at even money. Let’s take a look a all four starters.

1  GO FL GATOR’S   9/5       12   5/2/3   $ 217,240

Breaking from the inside post is this nice 3yo Lemon Drop Kid filly.  She is trained by  oncloud9 and enter’s the race with the highest turf sprint rank of the bunch a 24. She has been running in Stakes company since she broke her maiden as a 2yo and has found the winners circle in 4 Stakes races in 8 attempts.  She is 2 for 2 at this distance both in stakes and both as a 2 yo.  Her last race was not her usual performance and that may be the reason she is not the favorite today, however the race before she came from just of the pace to win going away with a very nice 94 Sp.  That effort today and with some patience in the early going should make her the horse to beat late.  Top Jock Z.Ayya gets the assignment today and should have a lot of horse.

2) NORTHERN HOPE  4/1   14  3/2/4  $51,910

Drawing post 2 is the 3yo daughter of Strong Hope, who goes to post for the third time for her new connections peachman5.  The $10,000 tag she was picked up for looks like a nice score though she has yet to score against much softer.  Her last race was with $20,000 Str types where she had a clear lead before folding badly in the late stages.  She has a lot of early foot that will be tested in this field and the last time she managed to hang on was in the race she was claimed from.  She will have to really step it up today to have a chance and the top two horses just seem that much better than her where she shouldn’t cause them much problems.  Jockey V.Stowe gets the call today.

3  BRADYCARDIA (GB)   7/2   9  1/3/0   51,700

okdavid196 brings in this daughter of Mutamam (GB) in search of just her second lifetime score.  Returns to sprint after giving up a lot of ground late in 8.5 open allowance last time out.  She does have some early foot and should be in contention early, however she has never been with this type of company and based on her PP’s she will be running for third.  A big step up and a brilliant ride by jockey F.Solomon would be the only thing I can see moving this one up any higher than the show spot.

4  DIXIELAND AGAIN  1/1    10  4/2/1   $171,850

The favorite draws the outside post and tries a sprint for the first time in awhile. The daughter of Awesome Again is winless in races less than a mile.  Trainer novanadia has opted to back up the distance a bit after she faded slightly in her last at 8.5 furlongs.  It appears she would like to have the lead and if that’s what she want’s than jockey C.Orza should have no problem getting it.  The question is will the inside horse let her keep it in the last furlong?  Her Sp’s are strong enough to get the job done if she runs her race.

This should be a two horse race between Go FL Gators and Dixieland Again.  My selections will be 1/4/3.  Good luck to all the entrant’s, look for the race review late Sunday.
