The SERPENTINE KEY Stakes
For all of you who backed my tips, bad luck I say. Remember a horse race is NEVER guaranteed no matter what I say.
Pedro’s Speedster is exactly that. A speedster. Dropping out to the tail of the field early on was happy enough to sit and wait for his chance. Jockey T Brett started winding him up on the back straight and coming into the straight on the final turn was sitting in a well placed third. Brocco’s Wild Cat having led the whole way from the jump was starting to tire but still had enough gas to keep going hard to the finish line. In the end, Pedro’s Speedster had timed it perfectly crossing the line just in front to take a classy win in what was really a 2 horse race.
Coming in third and some 11 lengths behind was D.C. Savage who looked to have left his run too late to make up the distance on the 2 leaders. Charisma Dancer, Miswaki Approval and the big disappointment of the race in ZZ Zzar were the next group in across the line. ZZ Zzar had no excuses really after sitting in good position up front for much of the race but just seemed to tire noticeably when it came down to it in the straight. Did I guarantee that one to win? No surely not…
The remaining horses in Stronghold, Delaware River, PJ Free Runner, Wild Trips and Carnaroe Reservoir never really figured in the race with Fair Moose a resounding last and at least 3 miles behind the main pack. So far back in fact that some thought he was leading the next race. As for whether he is a moose or a horse I vote the moose.
