Sotto Voce captures Lousiana Justice Special
Sotto Voce found another gear down the stretch to grab a victory in this week’s Louisiana Justice Special. Her six career stakes victory jumps her up to rank 23 in the Classic Division with plenty of races ahead of her. The win also inches her close to that half million dollar earnings mark, leaving her at just over $468K. The race paid well, with only one of the three co-favorites hitting the board. Sotto Voce paid $12.50 $5.60 $3.90 for the win, and she helped to set up a $75.70 exacta and a $269.50 trifecta.
Much as expected, Red Headed Cat set the early pace, taking charge right from the gate. She had a group of four horses just off her tail, but stretched her lead to three lengths at the half. The closers began to move at the half, but she managed to hold them off to the top of the stretch, where she simply ran out of gas. Ed’s Truck GA took it over from there, and she appeared ready to cruise down the stretch in this one, quickly gaining some distance. As they came down the stretch, though, Sotto Voce kicked in the jets, passing Ed’s Truck AZ within sight of the wire, and tacking on an additional length and a half for good measure. Ed’s Truck GA held on to second place, and in a nice show of stamina in a fast paced second half, Forlorner took third place, three and a half out at the wire.
