Field of five for Their Master Bonanza
Welcome to Indiana, where this week’s feature is the $85,000 Their Master Bonanza for 2-year-olds. A field of five will travel a mile and a sixteenth over the fast main track. Here is the field in post position order:
Wtas Pacific Quest won his debut at 6 ½ furlongs with a late rush, suggesting that the extra distance will not be a problem. He is the first foal out of an Albert the Great mare who won two route races.
Meadowlake Senor tired a bit going 6 ½ furlongs last time after breaking his maiden going 5 furlongs. His speed figures have improved with every start, but he has a sprinter’s pedigree and it’s hard to imagine that the extra ground will benefit him.
Inbred Fame T lit up the tote board last time out, breaking his maiden at 28-1 in his first route race. He will likely be a big price again today. Time will tell if that race was a fluke or a result of the off going that day, but the fact remains that he is the only one in the field to try a route of ground – and he looked pretty good doing it.
My Boat is the 6/5 favorite, based on the big numbers he has been racking up – he has been on the board in all five of his starts and has 3 speed figures in the 80’s. In his most recent race, he handled a field of 10 going 6 ½ furlongs and scored an 86. He is the horse to beat provided that he handles that extra half mile, which he may or may not being a son of Belong To Me.
Destiny Dance broke his maiden last time out, but he previously ran a good third in stakes company. His maiden win was at 7 ½ furlongs, and he seemed to appreciate the added ground, so today’s distance shouldn’t be a problem for him. The Dubai Destination colt has a good shot to win it if My Boat doesn’t get the trip.
Good luck to all!
