Small field of 7 made up the Sea Protect Challenge race today at Queensland which was dominated outsiders in the end. The only QLD resident trainer to get a place was Sorrento with his entry of Dubious Tazmin with a well placed third across the line after running for much of the race in 2nd place. The two fast finishers were Fortress Twerton and Lost My Keys with the Fortress only just getting home. She sat behind Dubious Tazmin and then made her move in the final straight. Lost My Keys flew home from the rear of the field only to just miss out on the win by a head claiming second place finish instead. Impressive run though and will have to watch her next time she’s out here at the Queensland racecourse. The bookies favourite Ocdane had a miserable race failing and coming in last across the line. Golden Wolf came in fourth only a half a length behind the winners and finishing fast also. Just needed a little more room I fancy to take her across in first place. Merry Andrew got a great start and led early but couldn’t keep up the pace and slipped back when the speed picked up in the straight. Dama Marinia (IRE) ran well but it wasn’t a spectacular run all the same. Still something to build on for next time out. Wasn’t a good day in the end for the Qld Residency trainers however we will have to be happy with a third place finish from Dubious Tazmin.
