The Slavers River Journey Grade II
1. 94100 SKAHAZADHAN reacher 7/1. A 4yo colt by Rahy with 6 wins from 16 starts. After running decent as a 2yo he ran only average as a 3yo early but got much better as he matured later in his 3yo campaign. From his last 4 starts he has 3 wins, all in Stakes Company, but the one bad effort came in a G3 race where he finished 11th. He’s tried this distance twice and has won both starts with career high SP’s of 107 and 108; he’s front runner that likes the lead and from his past races if he does get it most of the time he wins. Looks to be improving well so I would say he’ll win this or come in 2nd.
2. 39458 IRISH CHARISMA bigal50 9/1. A 4yo colt by Charismatic with 7 wins from 20 starts. He has tried this distance twice, once as a 3yo coming in 3rd in a allowance and this year winning a stakes with a career high 105 SP. Has won 4 of his last 6 which included allowance and stakes victories. Seems to be improving since the end of last year coming in this year and is a closer. If there’s a speed duel upfront he could be making a run at the end to collect a check.
3. 28286 FOUR MORE YEARS bezza1975 7/1. A 4yo colt by Mountain Cat with 6 wisn from 16 starts. He has tried this distance 4 times, all of them coming against stakes competition; the best came four starts back coming in 3rd with a 104 SP. He was an ok 3yo but showed much more as he matured in his 3yo season coming into this year. He had posted 5 straight triple digit SP’s, one race he finished 3 ¾ lengths from the winner of a G1 at 6.5f. He has raced twice this year, the first race coming at this distance where he came in 7th of 14; then lto coming in 4th of 9 at 6.5f.. He is a closer as well and could be making a run at the end, and possible out finish the one above.
4. 92169 HARD TO HANDLE zwylde 7/1. A 4yo colt by Miswaki with 7 wins from 21 starts. He’s tried this distance twice, breaking his maiden at 7.5f as a 2yo and finishing 2nd in a stakes at 3. He ran pretty well in the middle of his 3yo year running 4 straight multiple triple digit SP’s which included a G1 win a 6f. At the end of his 3yo campaign he looked like he was headed in a downward spiral finishing 14th and 7th in dirt sprint stakes Raced three time this year, finishing 5th in a allowance then winning 2 straight 6f graded races with 113 and 106 SP’s in his last two. He’s a frontrunner as well and has regained his form and looks to be the winner or 2nd place finisher.
5. 93869 BRILLIANT vsmdinc 8/1. A 4yo colt by Fantastic Light. He has 19 starts but has only dirt sprinted once which was at this distance two races back in a stakes, he finished 5th with a career tying SP of 104. he started out his career on turf doing well then switched to route races on dirt mostly of the late. He seems to be a near the pace or off the pace horse, which can do both. Hard to tell what he might be capable of here with only 1 starts sprinting, I say he’ll finish in the top half of the field.
6. 35043 PIZOL(IRE) vineland 6/1. A 4yo colt by Grandera with 5 wins from 15 starts. He ‘s tried this distance 4 times, all coming in his 3yo season. He won the first two with 105 SP’s, both came in allowance races, then tried stakes the next two where he finished 5th and 3rd not doing as well. He just ran in a 6.5f stakes race lto finishing 2nd of 14 with a 104 SP. He’s an on the lead type of horse which seems to tire at the end of the race but usually hangs on to collect a check. Not sure, did well in allowance but not the stakes races at 7.5f, I would pass on him to win but he could collect a paycheck.
7. 85 GOODBYE TABASCO pick4 11/1. A 4yo colt by Tabasco Cat with 5 wins from 17 starts. He has tried this distance twice, with a 5th and 2nd place finishes in allowance races. Not counting his 2yo races he has 6 stakes/graded races and hasn’t done well in any. Seems to be a good allowance horse but not stakes. Recently finished 6th and 5th in a G1 and stakes races. I think I would pass on him here.
8. 13189 SPANK THE MONKEY vegasjef 7/1. A 4yo colt by dynaformer has tried this distance twice in his 27 career races. He was a basically average 2 and 3yo, with a highlight coming in a 6.5f Stakes race coming in 3rd with a then career high SP of 104. This year he has 4 starts; he won his first two which came in 6.5f allowances, then 7th in a 6.5f stakes. Most recently he just ran at 7.5f in a allowance race where he finished 2nd losing by a nose with a career high 108 SP. He’s a closer and if he repeats that performance lto, then he could make the top 4 here.
9. 48696 BUDDHA’S UNDIES corza5 9/1. A 4yo colt by Buddha has never tried this distance on dirt. His SP’s were also average as a 3yo but did run in 5 Graded stakes races last year but the best he could do was 4th in a 9.5f G2 race. He coming off a 10f Stakes win with a career high 105 SP, but seems to be a better router then sprinter. I would pass on him in here.
10. 95351 ZYSOVIET zyro 7/1. A 4yo colt by Soviet Star with 5 wins from 19 starts but has never tried this distance. During the middle of his 3yo year, he ran 4 straight pretty good races posting triple digit SP’s ranging from 100-106; however all were in allowance races. Besides his 2nd career start being in a stakes coming in 2nd he hasn’t fared well In stakes races. He has run in 3 graded races this year finishing 3rd, 8th and 6th. If he can regain his from the middle of his 3yo season he could make the top 4 in here.
11. 51595 EXCUSES lurve 7/1. A 4yo colt by Spinning wolrd with 5 wins from 19 starts. He has tried this distance only once which was his last race in a stakes finishing 3rd of 10, he only lost by ¾ lengths and posted his 2nd career high SP of 104. Hasn’t had any wins in stakes races but has come in 2nd, 3rd or 4th in most. He looks to be improving and is a closer and could pickup the pieces at the end to come in the top 3 possibly.
