No clear choice in the Grade III Cadoka Stakes

The gate will be full to the limit for this year’s edition of the Grade III Cadoka Stakes, one of the features this week at the Big Apple. The race is scheduled to be run at seven furlongs and is for three year old Fillies. Let’s take a look at them:

  1. ERMINGTON HUMOR (3-2-0-0) – Promising, lightly raced filly out of Distorted Humor who has shown the ability to be rated along depending on the pace of the race. Still not proven against this kind of company, but her freshness and SFs make her one not to be overlooked here.
  2. SUPER GOLD (9-7-0-0) – This is a filly that knows how to win, as you can see by her impressive lifetime record. This will be her first time over the main course, so there are questions to be answered for her. At 11/1, looks like a good bet.
  3. STRONG PROSPECT (5-4-0-0) – She is already a graded winner, so she has some advantage against her rivals. Solid SFs and the distance fits her like a glove. Major Player.
  4. WONDERGIRL ERIN (9-2-3-0) – Her last two races have been disappointing, and so far has not been able to match with the best fillies in this event. I’ll have to look elsewhere.
  5. LILLIPUTIAN (3-3-0-0) – Undefeated daughter of Forestry that takes a little cut back in distance over her last race. She will be part of the first flight and if the improvement continues, she is a main threat.
  6. BESTE DON’T SMOKE (2-1-1-0) – She is coming from a long lay-ff, working great and her debut tell us she is able to win in these kind of events. At 20/1, I will put my money here.
  7. MEDAGLIA QUEST (8-3-3-2) – All of her wins have come in longer distances, but this is an angle I love to play, and if she can be rated, no question that this is a filly that can win here.
  8. UPSETTER (10-4-2-0) – Consistent filly who figures to be part of the early pace of this race. The presence of other speedsters here does not help her, but we can not discard her completely.
  9. SMOKIN LOIS (9-5-2-1) – Unlike almost every Smoke Glacken product, this filly comes from off the pace and she is already a multiple graded winner. She is one of the top candidates for victory.
  10. GENNA LOU HOO (10-4-3-1) – Her Equinics race gives her lots of opportunity against this field, if she can rebound from a somewhat rigorous schedule, she can be on the board.
  11. CHEYENNE GOLD (6-4-1-0) – Royally bred filly, also part of the early fray for the lead, and because of this her chances diminish. However she can not be completely overlooked.
  12. PEACE BLOSSOM (6-4-1-0) – Her last two races are on the down side, she needs to find her 2005 form to be able to compete against these good fillies.
  13. INDIAN WHISKEY (9-5-0-1) – Already a triple stakes winner, and she is coming from a routing experience which she wants to forget. Her SFs do not help her chances here, for now I’ll look elsewhere.
  14. BOURBON ALLEY ( 9-3-2-1) – Another filly who needs to recover her 2005 form, if she can do that she can be a nice surprise on this race.

I’ll give a chance at 20/1 to BESTE DON’T SMOKE, with SMOKIN LOIS a very close second. Then you can choose between STRONG PROSPECT and LILLIPUTIAN to complete a very inviting Trifecta.

Good luck to all!!
