Kacymygirl a clear cut winner in the Distaff Breeders Bowl Cap

It was a very fast track Saturday in the Big Apple, and Kacymygirl took advantage of this and hold off a late rush by the longest shot of the race, Empire Gold, to win this years edition of the Distaff Breeder’s Bowl Cap, celebrated this past weekend. When the gates opened, Dragonbringer imposed her superior early speed and got the lead, while the eventual winner followed her closely just to her outside. From the rail post, Jackdaw Castle was also part of the early flight and then came Puentelarra. With about three furlongs to go, Kacymygirl began her decisive attack, going to the front and going away at the top of the stretch. Meanwhile, Empire Gold began her late push and got second with a about a furlong to go, and although she was gaining ground on the winner, Kacymygirl’s victory was never in doubt. Puentelarra was able to sustain for the show spot and then came the favorite Vanguard, in a pretty dull fourth place effort.

The time of the race was a very fast 1:21: 1/5 for the seven furlongs distance and the exacta 11-9 returned a hefty $591.10 to their supporters.
