Full Field of Future Classic Contenders Face Off
The Pennsylvania Power Stakes- Grade II 4 Year Olds And Up- One Mile and A Quarter-
Seattle Delta is coming out from the inside position for delta2tigr on Saturday. This nearly $200,000 earner is going for his ninth win in 20 starts at the still very capable age of 5. Running Star’s son just ran a very fast race that gave him a 105 sp 3 weeks ago at West Virginia on a good dirt at 10.5 furlongs. In that race he started back in sixth until the half, and then ran away with it all the way to the finish. The Lil Pike a race prior to that was Seattle’s first off of a 56 day layoff and was a very disappointing 7th place 18 1/4 lengths back. Tomarrow he gets his first fast dirt race since the Windy City Gold Cup where he raced a 101 sp and a ninth out of 14 horses.
Forbidden Treasure is the second horse in this field and is going out for the king of the sim, aka billgulch, at 11-1 odds. Mike’s richest horse with $450,000 already in 18 races is looking for his sixth win overall and is racing for the third time since an incredible 119 day layoff. He needed a race off of that long layoff so he raced in The I Need A Race Allowance and won coming from last to first in an impressive time of 1:35 for the mile and a 103 sp. In his most recent race Forbidden Treasure came from tenth at the beginning to firfth seven lengths back at the 3/4 marker. As the field turned for home in the Big A Handicap, Forbidden Treasure was going wide and passed almost everyone at the end finishing a game second at odds of 11-1 with jockey N Lawton. The increase to 10 furlongs is a big jump, but this horse seems to be able to go a bit longer than what he has in his last two.
Tbassett is sending out Izzo’s Revenge to finally win a graded stakes but will have to try this time at double digit odds of 15-1 odds, unlike his last race where he paid $1.70 for every dollar put on him. The son of Hansel is trying to win this after racing in a 12 furlong allowance three weeks ago and pulling away at the end to win by three. He’s had only one graded race in her past 8, the It’s Yor Fault Stakes, G2. In that one he was far back the whole way but gained some ground at the end to get seventh at 29-1 odds at a mile. Interesting to see how he handles the distance after over 100 days of not racing at it.
Sissonhill is owned by anzstable and at 4 years old is going for a seventh win in 15 starts and could add a lot to over $300,000 lifetime earnings. Danzig’s quick son at 7-1 is going to come into here after a Grade 2 wire-to-wire romp in California. He has a remarkable 3 wins and 4 places in his last seven and has a very good chance of keeping it up. Sissonhill has a stalking and pace trip in all of his races. Only three races ago he had opened up by 8 at the half and is very capable of running killer fractions.
Blender Bev(IRE) and snappa are teaming up again after over a 25% winning percentage together. This seven year old at 7-1 is an amazing closer, closing a combined 75 lengths from half point to finish in his past 8 starts. Although he has only two wins in those past 8, you never know when he can sit just a bit closer than usual and go to the winner’s circle. He is expected to stay way back at the start but look for him on the turn. Very good chance at top four for over 8 straight races.
Lenny13 doesn’t need an Act of God to win this, or does he? After an allowance show in a short field of 7 Act of God’s record is 18-2-7-1 $408,321. Although the horse hasn’t won in over 200 days he might have one of his best chances since to do it. He is coming off of a few disappointing but unless the horse is decling Act of God should rebound here. Del Penn Day was not nice to this horse, and two grade ones in his past 8 were probably very stressing. Odds are at 15-1.
Macho Niner is next going out for louisville. Macho has $2.5 million and is racing here after only a two week break. Macho Niner as you probably know was a top Bluegrass Derby contender last year at this time, and since the classics and a 3rd place in The Classic, has a 4-1-0-0. The Delaware Mile DelPenn Day resulted in Macho Niner stalking all the way but not gaining at the end. He followed that by winning The Willing and Able Stakes, and in his last finished 12th in the Ed Garrison as part of the Equinics.
Hawk A Doodle Do is starting this race for steelcard at 22-1 odds. A 97sp three starts ago is very good, a 97 sp last start is very good, but two starts ago an 11 sp is bad. I assume Hawk was injured and that is definitely a throw out, but an interesting thing to point out anyv
