Big Race Preveiw 2776

No grade I races this week and only two graded stakes over all. Still we have two very interesting races to watch this week.

Race: 2776.1216 The Pennsylvannia Power Stakes – Grade II – $250,000
Track:
Pennsylvania
Restrictions: All horses, 4 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one quarter on the Dirt

Nine of the fourteen runners are between 7/1 and 11/1 to give you an idea of how open this race appears. There is a horse here though that appears to be on a roll that will probably not stop here. Wisdom Tooth (IRE) has won eight of eleven starts and has won those eight races in a row. He has not lost a race in over a year. This will only be his second graded start but he has consistently posted fast speed figures and won his other graded start. A runner to keep an eye on this year.

Sissonhill won a grade II in his last start and has run some nice speed figures. He is likely to be near the front and the distance might be a little far for him at this level but he still has room to improve. Blender Bev (IRE) is a lightly raced seven year old. He has been very solid and is grade I placed. His speed figures make him dangerous and he could easily win one for the olds.

Macho Niner was one of the top three year olds of last year and he looks to continue that trend as a four year old. He was third at the Breeder’s Bowl Classic and won a grade II a couple of races ago so he is a real threat in this race. Lightbringer has shown the ability to run the big speed figure at this distance.

Seattle Delta may be one of the better long shots here. He has looked pretty solid at these distances and comes off a nice listed stakes win. He is a grade I winner so you must respect him. Our fearless leader runs out Forbidden Treasure. He has started to show solid improvement in his last couple of races. If a real big upset occurs it will be Act of God that does it. He only has two lifetime wins but when he is on he posses one of the most impressive closing kicks any dirt runner has ever shown in this game.

Race: 2776.1115 Good Vista Handicap – Grade III – $150,000
Track:
Ohio
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 4 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one eighth on the Turf

Alberta Gold is the favorite in this race. She is fresh off a solid grade II placing at a mile. She has been a very solid mile and if this race were a furlong shorter I would agree with the odds maker. Since she is winless at this distance from a gambling stand point I would make a stand against her.

Riverboat Queen has been highly regarded by the odds makers however is not exactly experienced at this distance. In her third lifetime start she ran a hell of a speed figure at this distance but has never gotten close to that speed figure since. Othfly’s Mambo seems to be the best of the three top favorites. She won a grade III at this distance a couple of races back in quick fashion leading gate to wire. She is in solid form and is a real danger to go gate to wire here.

Tommy is a lightly raced four year old and has been very good. She has won six of her eight lifetime starts. Her last at the equinics was a strong second place finish. If distance is no issue she could be the one that gets the win.
