A spine tingling finish in the Grade II Fountain of Ute

The Fountain of Ute at Florida gave us one of the most spectacular endings in racing, when three colts finished noses apart, with trainer luminous Kisaran taking the best part and the big prize of the Grade II $200,000 race. Chinedu Hollandia came from way off the pace to grab second in the last strides over Tale of Auror, who almost pulled out the wire to wire trick.

At the start, it was Tale of Auror who grabbed the lead over luke warm favorite Super Coverup, and these two were able to lead thru easy fractions. The winner Kisaran stalked the pace setters from a nearby third, and then Udder Brilliance and Melek Ha Cavode, the undefeated colt who was nothing short of disappointing, finishing way out of the money. With about two furlongs to go, Kisaran began his final push, but Tale of Auror had plenty left to contain him for much of the final stretch. In the final half furlong, after battling gamely, the leader gave way to Kisaran, while Chinedu Hollandia was flying in the grandstand side to grab the place spot over tough lucked Tale of Auror.

The winner improved her lifetime record to 6 wins and a third in nine races, with earnings of $260,372 for trainer luminous, and figures to be a contender for the Triple Crown Races coming in about nine weeks. The time of the race was a pretty average 1:43 for the mile and a sixteenth.
