Six Furlong Dash Tops Card

Six Furlong Dash Tops Card

Pennsylvania – With most of the top fillies resting after the Equinics last week, this race will give some of the up and comers a chance to see if they ‘have it’.  The Code Jess Memorial is named after a nice 8YO mare by Lost Code.  She was stakes placed and won 17 of 44 starts before becoming the dam of three foals to race.  All are winners and one is a graded winner and perhaps she is a better broodmare than race horse.  Only six will face the starter for the six furlong dash around the main track and all will be looking for a share of the $50,000 purse.

Drawing the inside is Maguire’s Polish Not Gone (5/1) a bright bay daughter of Polish Precedent.  I thought at first this was a computer named filly but no, Maguire picked the name himself for this winner of two.  She worked hard to break her maiden and four starts later found an off track to her liking and came from far back to win an allowance with a speed figure of 83.  She was moved up the ladder and has beaten a total of three in two starts.  She will need to step it up if she is to continue at this class.

In post two is Chicago Woods (24/1) a well built dark bay filly by Tank, owned and trained by Puffqueen.  She is very lightly raced with only three starts and one win.  She did beat a full field last time out to win going away but may need more seasoning before facing this kind of company.

Dream Evil (2/1) is not trained by Kingab but by Zwango.  She is an elegant brown filly by Forty Niner and was a winner at first asking with a nice speed figure of 84.  She finished sixth in a mile allowance last time out and has been asked to shorten up again.

Post four will hold Unbridled’s Spirit (5/2) a pretty light grey filly by Unbridled’s Song.  She is one of the most experienced fillies in the race and has won four of nine starts for trainer Burn1down.  Ranked # 47 she has had her picture taken in the Apple Laughing, the Doctor Fruit, and the Nexis Virgin.  She is a winner at the distance and has an out over the track all of which should make her one of the ones to beat.

Fulqurant (5/2) is ranked # 93 and has won three of nine starts.  She is by Green Desert, is owned and trained by General, and she won two stakes back to back, the Light Locking and the Wretched Charger.  Last time out, in her first start as a 3 YO, she was a closing second in the Storm Around at 6 1/2 furlongs.  She should be closing but may run out of real estate.

Breaking from the outside is Scotian Love (4/1) a nice looking bay filly by Afleet.  She has three wins from eight starts and is looking to make this her third win in a row.  Her only off the board finish was a try on the grass and she has a top speed figure of 86.  She doesn’t have any experience at this level but I think she will be there for part if not all of it.  Dougiec5 will saddle the filly.
