Field of ten for PAM’S VIEW
The PAM’S VIEW Challenge kicks off a doubleheader of 3 year old stakes of the Kentucky card for week 2769. This event is a tough one turn mile with ten entered hoping to get a kick start on the Triple Crown trail. A field of ten will go on an expected fast track Saturday afternoon.
From the inside, Cangueominum will try for his first stakes win. Screendoor sends this son of 2001 Toyota Bluegrass Stakes winner Millennium Wind, who is eligible for an entry-level allowance spot. However, he’s shown promise in two stakes tries since breaking his maiden in Florida. He ships in to Kentucky today as a bit of an outsider. We’ll look for him to be stalking the early pace today, and if he shows a bit of improvement, he could be in the hunt for a prize down the lane.
Mr. Anderson comes into the PAM’S VIEW for sdmf6 screaming for a stretch out, and this son of Green Dancer gets just that today. Recently, he skipped a condition to finish second in a Nw3x sprint in West Virginia. He ships in to a tougher circuit hoping to improve on his lone stake performance, a disappointing seventh-place finish in the Grade 3 Special Bid across the river in Indiana.
Simond enters Sadler’s Stunner, an ultra consistent son of 1998 BC Classic winner Awesome Again. He brings an impressive 2 for 9 record to this event, with five second place finishes. He’s been coming along slowly, and today, in start number 10, he makes his stakes debut. Simond cuts him back from 1 1/16 miles to the flat mile today, looking to maximize his stretch run. Even though he is stepping up in company, it would be a surprise not to see him in the hunt in the final furlong.
Test Big Mac(AUS) defeated Mr. Anderson in a Nw3x in West Virginia in his most recent start. Trainer vegasjef01 gives this son of Testa Rossa(AUS) a second attempt at a mile, looking for his first stakes win. In recent starts, he’s shown that he can come from off of the pace – something he’ll need to do in order to get this distance. His previous mile effort proved to be a tough trip, as he tired in the stretch to finish third by over 3 lengths. This time around, look for him to be picking them off down the lane instead of trying to hold the others off.
Dolphinman saddles Gold Banshiii, a son of 1991 BC Juvenile winner Arazi. This guy already owns a stake win at today’s distance. In his most recent effort, ‘Gold’ was a close 6th in a similar stake race back in week 2734. With a better trip, this one has a good shot with a decent rider aboard today.
Carlos410’s Run For Honey, by Gold Fever, should be the speed of the race. He’s been exclusively sprinting, mostly on the grass. At first glance, his numbers do not appear to stack up with this bunch. However, his dirt start back in week 2720 shows a SP# of 85, which could put him in the thick of things if he gets the distance. The stretch out is the X-factor here, as no one knows how far this one can go with an easy lead. If he gets that, we may have a live longshot here at 20/1.
Paragon(IRE), a son of Perfect Soul(IRE), has been keeping graded company for trainer irshaman. He was fourth in the Grade 2 Rumson Stakes at the end of his 2 year old season. He’s had a start since, a disappointing sixth in the listed Afleet Alex. The cut back to a mile should help, as he posted a win with a SP# of 91 back in his 2 year old campaign. Hopefully his return start shook the rust off, and we’ll see this guy running late.
Hawgfan1’s Dancing King broke his maiden in an allowance heat in Arkansas two starts back. Since then, he was a close fourth in a Nw2L over this track. He’s done all of his running from the lead, but he will have some company today. This one is in tough – he’ll have to step up his game if he wants a piece of the pie.
Miniano come into this race struggling since breaking his maiden in his career debut. In six starts since, this son of Mineshaft has hit the board just once, finishing third in a 1 1/16 mile allowance race in Florida for trainer theatrical. His numbers have improved, but this one will also have to do some running if he wants to break his cold streak this time.
Finally, Red Wings, a well-named, well-bred son of Red Bullet out of a Fusaichi Pegasus mare, looks for his second stakes win for trainer austin. If you draw a line through the DERBY FEVER Cap back in week 2664, this guy looks quite well. He’s been lightly raced since that disappointing 10th-place finish, but has rebounded to collect a stakes win along with a second and a third in three starts. He cuts back just a bit to a mile this time, and it would
