Deep Field For Irish Well Special

(SP)Wyoming- The Sandessa Bonanza is in the books and it was a good time by all. There was a clear winner in the race when Wreath Of Roses came charging to the front after a rough start. She improved a little and showed she is on the right path for the future. It appeared that Anthony Minichello was in the drivers seat to make it three in a row but she showed signs of tiring at the end and had to fight off Cat‘s Tale to place. Cat’s Tale was bumped right at the start that through her of her normal style of running but was able to salvage a show for her efforts.

Up this week is the $55,000 Irish Well Special, named after a retired horse that was an average runner, although he managed eight wins in 59 career runs. It is a turf mile for horses that are four years or older and a field of eight have entered. It should be a good day if a bit cold and blustery and the grounds should be in good condition for an excellent race. So let’s take a look at our entrants.

Land Of Light entered by bigtime. This light gray colt has returned to racing in the United States after spending some time over seas. He has started out this years campaign on a poor note and is hoping to rectify that this weekend. He has plenty of experience in stakes racing and even a couple of wins, but peculiarly seems to garner better speeds in allowance races.

The Black Sword(GB) entered by tejanoroy. This British chestnut horse comes in still looking for that first elusive win at stakes level. He has captured ten races so far with one being a win to open this season. He has shown that the classic distance is right where does his best. A stalking style will most likely be his choice this weekend.

Collins Street entered by man apace. After showing a definite improvement on the dirt this elder colt returns to the grass. He has not had a win since late last summer and has struggled since then. The horse tries to break out in front to lead, but has a definite stamina problem that the trainer has to contend with.

Tiki Time(IRE) entered by purerocker. This elder Irish horse also comes in looking for his first stakes win. He just started racing in Black Tie events and has been holding his own and making it into the money. He likes to come from behind and the trainer is hoping that familiarity with the track will give him an added boost. The trainer certainly doesn’t want a repeat of his last outing here.

Victory Once Again entered by bloodier. This elder chestnut horse took all of the 2004 season off and raced only sparingly in his 2005 season. So far he has been on the board in every race and is looking to keep this record intact. If his last outing in a stakes race is any indication then he has a good chance to accomplish this. He will most likely use a stalking style on the weekend.

Our Star T entered by march2nd. This chestnut colt comes into the race with a stakes win and a graded stakes place. Both of those runs came when the colt felt like running, but has a tendency for inconsistency. He will run well one race and come back the next with a less than stellar run. He likes to stalk the pace but needs a good start from the gate to use it to the best effect. This week could very well be his no effort run.

Fusaichi Magpie entered by punter59. This horse returns to Wyoming after wining the He’s A Gay Blade Special last time out. He comes into the race as one of the favorites and a half furlong of added ground should not be a problem for him. He is a front runner and has drawn the hottest jockey, Jason Sands to aid in his effort for a second win.

Friendofthefamily entered by pedroza. This horse comes in as the other early favorite and also the only entrant that has earned $1M in his career. He is no stranger to the winners circle and has competed many times against Fusaichi Magpie. He likes to close from the back and is very effective doing so. Matching this veteran and the veteran jockey Vern Gannon together could cement a good showing for him.
