Big Race Preview 2755
No grade I races this week and only one grade II race. So this will be a short one race preview. I will take the breather this week because next week is gonna be huge!!
Race: 2755.5001 Ferdichenko Cup – Grade II – $250,000
Track:
Restrictions: All horses, 4 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one half on the Turf
Jupiter’s Moons (IRE) leads this group of turf routers. This will be his four year old debut and I am sure a good place to get 2006 started. This division is loaded and Jupiter’s Moons (IRE) proved he belonged last year upsetting quite a field in the Japan Classic. He appears to like this course and looks to be much the best on paper.
Majestic Water is a co favorite but at eight years old and fifty career races you have to wonder if he has what it takes to beat a runner like Jupiter’s Moons (IRE). Add to that he took a long time off before making a come back a few weeks back. He has had one heck of a career with six grade I wins.
Tow the Dark is one of the bigger long shots in the field. Unlike most of the others in this race he is relatively young and lightly raced so you can see him improving. His last race was pretty solid and a repeat of that might put him in contention for the place or show. Woodly has been a consistent runner. He is an older guy that looks to have a good shot hitting the board. Band of Budas may be the best of the runners besides Jupiter’s Moons (IRE). He is a deep closer and runs solid speed figures.
