Beta Cat Enjoys Ouchy Nips

Improving her dirt route record to eight wins and 11 in the money finishes in thirteen dirt route tries, Wortud’s Beta Cat stalked her way to victory in Saturday’s Grade III Ouchy Nips Special.

Wortud acquired the winner by breeding to the Sim mare Alpha Cat.  A younger halp-brother, Gamma Cat, is still looking for his second win.

The four year old Beta Cat combined with fellow 9-1 shot Northerly Nicole, out of the Skirom stable for a $238.20 exacta.

With only those two fillies earning triple digit speed figures, this was the slowest Ouchy Nips in the history of the race.  Beta Cat’s 104 was barely an improvement over her figure in winning an ungraded race her least time out.

Completing the superfecta in a photo finish for the show was Gorgeous’s sprint specialist Spinning Nines and Highbreed’s highly rated Daylight T.

The trifecta (which required boxing the top three picks in the Black Type Bugler preview) paid $1,077.80.  (Thank you, thank you very much.)

Longshot Marabou Destiny from the Marabou stable, led for a half before fading to a respectable sixth.  Also prominent early was the favorite Splash and Go from the Shockwave6 stable.  Splash and Go finished ninth in the field of eleven fillies and mares.
