Only Four For Big Purse
Only Four For Big Purse
Breaking from post one will be Suicide Messiah (5/1), a nice looking bay filly by Grindstone. It took her 14 starts to break her maiden, but much like Sky Bailey, it doesn’t seem to matter whether she runs six furlongs or a mile and a quarter – she gets up for second. She is 9/14 in the money. Trained by Sarava02, she did win last time out, but this will be her first time at the distance and she will need her best.
Mafia Calls T (7/2) is a 5 YO daughter by Theatrical and is ably conditioned by Baby. The big dark bay mare has won four of 34 starts and is a winner at both 12 and 13 furlongs. She passed tired to be third in The Call It Again Sam three back at the two mile distance so she does have the experience which should help.
Roberto2 will send out a daughter of one of his favorite sires, Black Sam Bellamy and drew post three. At 3/5, Sam The Man (jeeze Phil – she sounds like the computer named her) is the morning line favorite and is well deserved of the status. The 4 YO copper chestnut has six wins including five of her last eight races and has finished in the money in 11 of her 17 career starts. She was the easy winner of The High Noon at 13 furlongs and was a closing winner in The Pro Moon where she won the photo in a game effort at 10 furlongs.
Desert Dish (2/1) is the old lady of the group and has won nine of 30 starts. A lovely brown, 7 YO mare by Desert King, she is trained by Ad3ik and is ranked # 27 in the long dirt division. She is a winner at the distance, including the stakes The Ollie Rate and The Tan Soar. Lately she seems to be getting caught in deep stretch, but she doesn’t want to rate and if she doesn’t make the lead, she doesn’t try, so look for her to try to take it wire to wire.
