Paradise Tries For Fifth Stakes Win

Paradise Tries For Fifth Stakes Win

New South Wales – The Conil Special will top the race card in New South Wales this weekend and a field of five sophomore fillies will go to the post in the 7 1/2 furlong race over the turf.  A $90,000 purse is up for grabs in the race named after a stakes placed 9 YO mare by Twining.  She managed six wins from 34 starts and is the dam of two foals to race – both winners.  Here is the field by post position for the race.

Breaking from the inside will be La Gomera (4/1), a 3 YO daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus.  She is conditioned by Bagur and has three wins from seven starts.  She was an easy winner in her very first start and comes into this race off a winning effort last time out in The Tenant Hana Memorial.  Throw out her two dirt tries and her first stakes attempt when she stumbled out of the gate and this filly could be a good one.

Paradise (2/1) is a pricey filly being by Gone West out of a Storm Cat mare.  Trainer Cooldude has carefully managed her career and it has paid off as she is ranked # 17.  She is 7/8 in the money with five wins.  She comes in to this race off a winning streak of four stakes before running second last time out.  Those stakes include The Autumn Furniture, The Jack Dancer, The Trick Jessie and The Full Book.  She will be the one to beat.

One of my favorite trainers, Alleds, will saddle Well Awesome (3/2) by Awesome Again.  This 3 YO filly not only holds the top speed figure in the race but comes in off a win last time out in the Dana Crusader.  She is a stone closer and will be flying down the lane.

Switching to the turf last time out, The Neutral Zone (9/2) turned into a new horse that clearly relished the softer going and exploded down the lane for an allowance win with a 10 point jump in her speed figures.   Trained by Indigo1, this daughter of Pine Bluff will need to be watched

Super13 is sending out what may be one of their super flops although they keep trying her at the stakes level.  Torrid (6/1) by Forestry has two wins from seven starts and although she won the Sharon’s Acmes soon after her maiden win, she has only beaten two horses in each of her last two outs and is reportedly having soundness problems.  If her trainer has backed up the vet truck to her stall door, she could surprise.
