Thunder Gleaming Stakes

After an eleven week absence to heal an injury, rawleycans stables Set Me At Ease(IRE) resumed racing right where he had left off and won today’s featured race in New Jersey. Returning to his favorite distance, Set Me At Ease(IRE) pressed the early pace setting Roadrunner II, then passed the weakening leader to take command of the race at the head of the far turn. Glfstrmdoc’s Little Feat, the lone the 3 yr old in the race, was rated back 4 lengths and made his move at the head of the stretch. Set Me At Ease(IRE) had enough in the tank to hold off the late closing drive of “The Feat” and was alone as he galloped under the wire by 2 1/2 lengths. Sensations passed fading Roadrunner II to take show position.

Sophmore jockey D.J. Joe said with a smile, “He was ready..the rawleycans folks brought him back nicely.. I had a lot of horse today..he broke easy and settled in right behind the leader.. he’s a pro” said Joe..”didn’t really have to ask him to run… I tapped him easy near the wire just to keep him focused.”

A disappointed D. Wueful was over heard telling The Doc!..”We were in traffic in the turn..but in stride at the top of the stretch..the pace horse was tired and lugged in on us..we lost a step and some momentum getting by him”..a stern looking Doc replied..”you has a gun..shoulda used it”..the downtrodden jockey mumbled as he walked away “Yeah..and a Happy New Year to you to..you crazy bastard”.
