My True Love, Phantom Wings lead DPCD Sprint
Delaware– Hubba hubba, Bubba! DelPenn Champions Day keeps marching on with a seemingly bottomless well of races. DelPenners see their one-turn sizzlers tear up a lightning fast main track in the $500,000 DPCD Sprint.
Smoke ’em if ya got ’em! Or else get outta da way!
#1 – Yucky. Stretch sends a humdinger out for the post parade. Road To Gold ain’t on now path to glkory and riches Saturday. Will get lost somewhere amongst the also-rans. 27/1
#2 – Good effort two back by Tony’s Alythunder II. Summer Squall old boy otherwise has been pretty dull. Doubtful he’ll be much effective here. 16/1
> #3 – Wayne’s racetime fave My True Love, on the other hand, is the one to beat. Sadler’s Wells 4YO has won 3 of last 8 over either surface around one-turn. Effective as well over flat mile. ALWer, but it could be his shot at black type glory. 5/1
#4 – Super-snatchers toss in speedy Capote Dream. Sophomore enjoyed Starters and even picked up a NW1x. Lowball SP#s don’t really lend credence to a break out run this time around. Pass. 35/1
#5 – Jerry has a claimer here in Red Sea Salvation. In it for the post parade. Nice colt though to earn BP and keeps on improving. Maybe a minor share at best. 30/1
#6 – Pas SB hasn’t done much of late for mobboss. Yicky, yick, yicky, but does enjoy these one-turn rabbles. Very little chance. 18/1
#7 – Hoo, ya! Where is Tony finding these zingers? Ha! Time to breed Summer Soar, a 5YO with nice lines. Aging stables! 22/1
> #8 – Wayne’s got numero dos here with a shot. You Gotta Play Hurt(IRE) drops back from 9f debacle. Prior ran likety-split at ALW sprint level. Not stakes caliber, but this field’s pretty soft. Closer’s factor for board. 14/1
#9 – Mike!!!!!!! Long time, no hear from ya. :^( I didn’t know that you still played the game! Say hello to Roys and I sometime…… we miss ya. 🙂 No, I haven’t written any of these tracks that Kiwi Krunch(NZ) has visited. We mostly concentrate on graded races now in the newspaper. Your 4YO hasn’t raced a lot and maybe wear and tear has set in with those last 2 races. Still, he’s a good threat in this company if fit. Well, kind of doubtful. Great to see ya though! 🙂 7/1
#10 – Allvindy brings a live on to the hunt in No Easy Way Out. Vindication sophomore pumped for graded debut LTO after winning zippy stakes photo two back. I think this colt can handle this group. Live sleeper. 11/1
#11 – Studio Remixed T hasn’t caught a break of late. Trooper by Gone West on again, off again, flying from the back of pack. Veteran and its hard to tell if he suffers from wear and tear. If not though, should enjoy this step down in company Factor for board for crow stable. 9/1
#12 – I luv ya, Tony! But gotta be honest, you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel here. Ha! Mining For Gold closer might be in the hunt a tad. But doubtful. Boy, you’ve had no luck with the royal breds this season. Ouch. 🙁
#13 – Super-romper-stompers have another blueblood to offer to the racing gods. Gatling Gun has a fabulous name, but that’s about it so far. Pretty average. Give ya guys and gals credit — you get your share of stinkers! Ha! Pass. 21/1
#14 – Zounds! It took 29 starts for Blacguard(IRE) to finally notch his NW2x. Prefers 6-ish furlongs but might be cruisin’ for a bruisin’ Saturday. Overmatched. 25/1
> #15 – Topicount has the winner. Phantom Wings shuttles down from graded level two back and he was no slouch at graded level this summer. I think this FuPeg sophomore will have to fall down to lose this one. In the bag. Read ’em and weep! 6/1
#16 – Winning Wild hasn’t faced older horses yet. Factor for the board or minor share though — was compatitive versus his age group. Additionally, the ol’ turf-to-dirt switcheroo may work wonders. Outside shot for kma. 26/1
#17 – Yip, yip, Yip! Caracolillo picked up the beat after a couple lousy performances prior. Hey, bobthehat (bonechewer)! Thank you again for helping us out with the BTB DPCD issue! Let’s see…… well, kind of off and on. Miswaki son hasn’t really done a heap from 27 starts. Bookies got it right, making him a longshot — he’s not very consistent and this is a big class leap for him too. Has the look of a high tag claimer honestly. 🙁 I don’t know if he’s that good to spend 250 BP to breed either. Welcome back to the Sim! Enjoy this great DelPenn Day! 🙂 Snowchief 23/1
#18 – Totheright. Yup, that describes DelPenn OK-dokey. Though lefties are always welcome, but they’re in for a fight! Ha! Speedy First Slice raced last in dinosaur time. Most likely will huff-n-puff his way to the back of the pack. Quick exit, but, hey, it’s Champions Day! Welcome back to the Sim! 25/1
#19 – Forestry son Mojito’s riding high after bagging a NW1s LTO. Not much racing of late, so questionable fitness. Vet 4YO in over his head most likely. Maybe a minor share since he’s still competitive for aak. Pass for the winner’s circle though. 22/1
>#20 – Woo! Hard To Handle draws an awful post and pity, ‘coz he’s a live longshot. G1 winner a ways back and finally returns to his preferred distance and surface. Miswaki sophomore should join the speedster fray. Has all the karma for zwylde and his namesake jockey, Z Wylde! What more can ya ask for ….other than a better post. Big factor for the board.
Snowchief’s Picks:
DelPenn National is the oldest active residency in the Sim. They’re the home of the red, white, and blue, raucous rhetoric and good ol’ fashioned showdowns. Sometimes, they get a bum rap — the “other” residency with the group of scheming, inaccessible old-timers. Other times, they’re the braggarts — always boasting, bawdy, full of bustle and nasty punk.
But I say Revelation’s site is a gem of the Sim and all else in its shadow. Over the years, DelPenn National survived through the Sim’s ups-and-downs. Steady, stalwart, and, above all, genuine. A simple text-n-clipart site.
Sure, the hyperlinks aren’t always easy to find and you gotta log into the Forum (what a bear!). They don’t have any fancy utilities, nor are they esthetically spiffy to a webauthor’s eye. And, like any other site, DelPenn shared moments on the deep end. Lack of participation and energy amongst its residents that suggested a path to the place where all defunct residencies go: our memories of Sim history.
But DelPenn endured. Loyal and steadfast residents who trust Jerry (revelation). They soak up the idea of a place in the Sim where they can be themselves…. or at least their silly ‘Net personalities!
Do you know how rare that is in the far corners of the game? Heck, you can’t even be that way on the game board. Every thing has its place, and DelPenn is one of those places.
DelPenners, I hope you are proud of your website and the fun group of Simmers that you’re a part of. You guys and gals are out there on the fringe. But that’s the soul of the Sim, isn’t it? Defying the odds, full force online for 7+ years. A rebel out there in the big bad cyberworld.
Long may you be the gem and soul of the Sim. And thank you for this great day of racing, to cap off the year’s season. May we all put in long hours and struggle with the publisher, assigning articles and such next year! Ha!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Your admirer,
🙂 Snowchief
