Harlan’s Holiday Colt Achieves Four-Timer

The West Point Thoroughbreds California Jewel on Saturday went to Toy Maker, trained by darshaan and ridden by F. Gossett, paying $12.10 to the dollar on the pari mutuel.

Hattori Hanzo took the early lead, with Toy Maker, Forty Scoobs and Hawk A Doodle Do heading the chasing pack and Indespensable settled behind them. Toy Maker always had the leader within his sights and made a forward move to take up the running when they had gone six furlongs. Indispensable ran on to take second, finishing one and a half lengths behind the winner. Favourite Laconia Light ran on from mid-division to be third, beaten a total of four lengths, a quarter of a length ahead of the fast-finishing Act Of God in fourth.

The first four in this race put up speed figures in excess of 100, the winner posting a figure of 105. This was the fourth victory in a row for Toy Maker, and his first at Grade Three level. He looks set to continue his success.
