Sprint Distaffers test Grade 3 Blueberry Stakes

pp1 Birds of Paradise 5-1
9th rated in class off last at 6.5f over a few of these looked ready for more at the end. Worth noting 13 starts this year 8 wins and 5 places. Distance is not an issue so I can’t find a fault. Must be dealt with to be beaten.

pp2 Three Days Later 18-1
First shot at older not in a good spot at all. Would be major upset.

pp3 Rebelling 15-1
last two are impressive still too many would not have to fire for her to get it all but hitting the board on bottom would not surprise me.

pp4 Howling Success 12-1
will be apart of early going for sure although staying in front in this one is the challenge. Has run well on many occasions yet tough spot here.

pp5 Vanguard 5-1
6th rated the obvious one to beat. Pace appears to be sufficient for a great stretch finish. turning back a little so only question could be timing and that could be splitting hairs.

pp6 Udontwantone 12-1
Last was disaster which no surprise for the Swiss Yodeler charge considering almost 75% of Yodeler’s are sprinter’s.
Making up ground in last sprint at end following a mile event so timing of move explained. Your guess is as good as mine here but think late finish not enough without career best.

pp7 Paging Dr. Profit 19-1
I know the trainer. Exits the same Gr3 as few in here and no excuses was outran. Ran great in Fla. earlier over a slightly off track in Gr2. She’s another decent filly who would need everything to go her way and others to not bring their A game. Can’t back here

pp8 Spinning Nines 16-1
nice filly who should hang around for a long time in lane just maybe to get a piece, could pick here if not for a couple of the older ladies.

pp9 Gold Mania 21-1
first graded effort nice against a handful of these came as a surprise after 3 good allowance wins. Extra distance could help and if I had to pick a longshot would be able to make a case. Still not enough evidence to base a case for the win but another who could finish strongly.

pp10 Wine and Whiskey 6-1
won 7 in a row before first loss after a serious increase in stature of company. Last couple at distance have been strong finishes but looked good with the extra 1-2 last out. Part of blanket finish.

pp11 Baby Troy 13-1
if your looking for value at 13-1 this is a good place to start but a close look shows her Gr1 finish in New York was nice then some serious mishandling. Vanguard was the seriously beaten favorite there with the 12 the surprise winner. Last race was a sharpener at best but as the trainer I’m fearful her best days have gone bye-bye at this level.

pp12 Puentelarra 7-1
early speed could be a plus here because alof these show they like to follow till the top of the lane. The problem is this one has showed in the past that if left alone she plays very well by herself. I do believe 7 furlongs isn’t the best distance for her which could be made evident.

pp13 Tassover the Bux G 10-1
has ran well at distance while finish ok to be outfinished by others. can’t see here because if her style wins the race there are others who look better with same gameplan.

pp14 Dry Gully Girl 10-1
her last three make a contender although I hate this post position. Still 22.00 mutual would be sweet and a case can be made based on 2 wins against older so 3yo filly is mature enough for these. return to last couple and no bounce, put her in blanket finish with other major players. Again the post position keeps me from picking for the upset.

A second glance here makes Vanguard and Birds of Paradise the obvious choices. If both run their best I can’t see them both getting beat if that logic makes any sense. I like the 1, 5 , 10 to win with all else up in air till the photo is determined. Longshot pick would be the 8.
