The Polar Bar Challenge

A timely, brisk north-westerly wind blew into town the other evening, dropping night time temperatures into the mid-twenties allowing for the annual opening of The Polar Bar. The ever popular ice sculpturing, located in the heart of Rockerfeller Center’s Winter Holiday display, has become a mecca for local residents and tourists alike. With a capacity to serve 300 guests, the ice bar is adorned with thousands of holiday LED low heat lighting fixtures that would rival the holiday dispalys of any major attraction. The Polar Bar, has gained such notariety that a local equine sports venue, a race track, in the spirit of youth and exuberance, has dedicated a stakes race to the young at heart, a juvenile fillies 6f turf event. The race is called The Polar Bar Challenge.

This year, The Polar Bar Challenge has drawn of field of 5 juvenile female athletes. The turf course is firm and a fine crowd of holiday revellers is expected to enjoy themselves under blue skies for the $90K event. Sooooooooooooo..without further hesitation..”Let’s Roll”…..

New York’s top rated jockey, N. Lawton, riding for thereason stables will be up on the 9/5 favorite, Thatswhatilike. The 2yr old Exploit filly is hot hot hot. Her 5/6 in the money turf record is the highest itm percentage of the bunch. That record includes 2 wins, with solid times at the distance and another two photos run in stakes company going 7f & 7.5f. She has a versatile running style that has shown an ability to close or rate off the pace. She’s the one to beat in here.

A stakes veteran with 5 outings is the Robellino sired filly Game Is On. The relatively young tasman stables have secured the services Ax Williams for this affair. Williams, a veteran jock, is having an outstanding year, he’s expected to guide this juvenile to her first stakes win. Her 3/8 lifetime record boasts 2 wins and her steady work and speed figures have earned her the 5/2 tab. She will not go un-noticed by the betting public.

The first of two 3/1 entries is plonk stables Dr. Holliandia. This pace setting juvenile was out run in her 1st stakes event going 7f over the lawn in her last outing. The solid veteran jockey L Gunn will be in the irons for this one and her connections expect that her last race will lend to an improved performance here. The E. Dubai filly’s 3/4 itm turf record indicates that she has a competative nature and her consistant work indicates that she’s fit and sound for this competition.

At 3/1, Cruiser Holliandia will represent holliandia6 stables and sire Not Impossible bloodlines. The 80% in the money turf runner faded to 5th after battling on the front end in her last, a 7f Gr.III event. She likes to run up close just off the pace and gives her all in every race, a testament to the solid training of the holliandia6 barn. R. Foster, an outstanding jockey with patient hands, will guide her in her third stakes endevor.

This is the 4th time I’ve spelled out holliandia and it’s for the longshot of this 5 horse field, Quest Holliandia. Tabbed at 7/1 and trained by the 1st2nd3d stables the Coronado’s Quest filly will have her work cut out for her here. Jockey Er Anderson, an average sort, will attempt to bring some consistancy to what appears to be an eratic racing history.
