A race of 11 and nearly all of them look a treat!

A race of 11 and nearly all of them look a treat!

Here we go again. Another stakes race to be analysed and one that looks like it will go write down to the line. Here it is…

The KING THOR Memorial
Stakes
A mile and one eighth
Firm Turf
$55,000
All horses, 3 years old and up

1        GOLDEN SLOPE owned by masterab – 9/2, this horse has awesome breeding (Seeking the gold x nijinsky II x Riva Ridge) and a good, experienced trainer that knows how to make a horse run when it counts. 3 starts ago this horse ran a whopping S.P of 103 and has been very consistent since then. Don’t write this horse of and be sure to include it somewhere in your trifecta. It is my tip for first place.

2        TRUE STORY owned by resting – 22/1, I’ve looked every where to try and find something that this horse has going for it but I just can’t seem to find anything. It has the second longest odds in the race and there is a good reason for this. It is a good horse and would do well in Alw races but this sort of race is aiming a little high. It’s not good to see a 4 year old that has 34 races under its belt and unfortunately this horse might’ve been pushed very hard through its career and while I don’t believe that you can ‘reck’ a horse by over running them but I do believe that it will shorten its career. Sadly this horse doesn’t even have a sniff and will not be favoured by punters. Good luck.

3        THE BLACK SWORD owned by tejanoroy – 4/1, Equal favourite going into this race and while I would consider putting it in my trifecta, I would not be placing money on the nose of this horse. But… and there is always a but, this horse has the best most recent S.P which is 103 which may suggest that it is hitting some excellent form and just may well prove me wrong and manage to get up in Saturdays race.

4        RADKE’S REVENGE owned by Joshua – 4/1, this horse is very hard to work out. It had been very consistent and was running S.P’s around 100 and then all of a sudden flopped to 84 last start. It ran over a similar distance and on the same surface (turf firm) so I can’t pick out anything that might suggest it will return to previous form, maybe it needs a rest? It hasn’t won since week 2433 and its S.P’s have generally dropped since that race. It will be interesting to see what this horse does. My guess is this horse will either come 1st or 7th so be careful when picking the trifecta – are you willing to risk it?

5        GREEN WITH NV owned by pup – 9/1, a very inconsistent horse and has been running S.P’s all over the place. Some of its races have been fairly impressive but this horse doesn’t look a chance in this race and I would stretch its odds out to something more like 15/1.

6        UNREASONABLE owned by monopoly – 12/1, if you want to back an outsider this is the horse to get on. I wouldn’t be brave enough to say that this horse will win but it is a chance. With the 3rd longest odds in the race the bookies obviously aren’t giving it much of a chance and don’t be surprised if it gets up. While it hasn’t run the fastest S.P’s in this field it has certainly done enough to give its self a chance. Even if it doesn’t finish the race first this horse will run top three so include it in your trifecta and get some juicy odds! This colt is only 3 years old and will no doubt be a gun in the future providing the owner takes good care of it. Hey monopoly, do me a favour, challenge deyoto to an 8.5 furlong race on the firm turf course…. Unreasonable vs. King of Kilmore. It would be a great race that would go right down to the wire. Both these horses are great horses with an amazing future and the sim needs a showdown.

7        TEE JAY’S GREAT owned by les333 – 9/1, looks like a good horse and has plenty of potential. It may make the top three and will be quite interesting to watch. It has had a good preparation leading up to this big race and may come from know where to claim victory.

8        JUMP OR PUSHED owned by bexley – 6/1, This is an interesting horse, it has been very consistent leading up to this race but while its S.P’s have been good, they are just a touch under what I believe to be required for this race. Good luck bexley, your horse could prove me wrong as it has what everyone wants in a horse… consistency.

9        A.P. SLEW II owned by lazysranch – 8/1, another horse with great breeding (A.P. INDY x MR. PROSPECTOR x RUDIMENTARY). This horse has been running decent S.P’s in the past but I don’t think that they are enough which is why I would be tipping this horse to finish somewhere midfield. Based on its latest races this horse seems to firmly hold a certain spot throughout the race and hold it. It would be interesting to see it run to the lead on Saturday, it just may well not be caught.

10    MAMOOL owned by punterdoug – 99/1, longest odds in the race and it is obvious why. Not much to say about this horse other than… it has not got the slightest chance of finishing anywhere higher than last. The owner has aimed way to high.

11    NEAR FANTASTIC owned by Ibailey – 8/1, the name of this horse is very fitting as it is close to being fantastic but it is not quite good enough to be named fantastic. It may do something on the weekend but I am picking it to finish 4th.

My (boxed) trifecta – 1,6,3,7

My winner – 1
