Psycho Clown Stakes Review

Betting favorite Best Of The Sun(IRE) blazed through the fog, in Psycho Clown  tradition, in a wire to wire effort to take The Psycho Clown Stakes Bananza. The 4yr old sunline stables trained colt broke sharply from mid-gate and was never headed in his run of 1:41 3/5 seconds. Leading throughout, he held a 5 & 1/2 length lead at the head of the stretch. Jockey B. Scott had enough horse to hold off a late closing charge from colonelbr2 stable’s Allen N. Iverson. After picking up a fading Call Of The Canyon, Allen N. Iverson closed to within 1 & 3/4 lengths of the pace setter and had to settle for place.

Near the jock’s dressing room, I overheard the befuddled Allen N. Iverson’s rider saying to the trainer and owners..”I just don’t understand what happened, he was all out in the turn” he stated while shaking his head, waving and pleading with his hands..”we had the 7 horse cold..the pace had him played out, when we passed Call Of The Canyon, Allen was in full run…we were gaining ground and would have picked up Best Of The Sun(IRE) at the 1/16 pole” the jock proclaimed..then continued.. “but Allen paused..and stepped in, as if there was something going by and moved in front of us. A second later, he dug in and went back to a full run..whatever happened ..it cost us the race”..After hearing this explaination, I went back through the clubhouse to trackside and looked at the tote board. It still regestered the time of 1:41 & 3/5 seconds…5-7-8..official. A piece of paper blew in front of me and settled at my feet. When I looked down I saw the BTB heading Psycho Clown Myth, I thought of Charlie Bates and his story and smiled. My gaze returned to the tote board and for an instant, just before the board went dark, I though I saw 1:40 & 2..12-5-7 official.
