Breeding Or Talent In The Texas Justice

Breeding Or Talent In The Texas Justice

Alabama – The Texas Justice Special will be the featured event of the Saturday card and the weather should be clear and warm.  Named after a modest horse by Lit De Justice that won two of 17 lifetime starts including one stake, the race is for 2 YOs going 71/2 furlongs over the main track.  A purse of $70,000 drew six entries.

The slight favorite is a dark bay or brown colt by Gone West, Death Alley Driver (5/2).  While his name sounds like a video game, the colt himself is still a maiden.  The morning line guy made him the favorite off of his breeding for sure, but also because he ran a bang up second last time out in the Cryptolightning Stakes.  He also sports improving speed figures, gets the services of a top jockey, and is trained by Sdmfs who is well known for starting his young horses in high class races, believing in the sink or swim theory of horseracing.

Byronics (3/1) hails from the Gavinw stable and is a lovely copper chestnut trimmed in white.  He has been in the money in six of his seven starts and has two wins.  He was a handy winner two races back in an allowance race and then was stepped way up in class to the Grade I Sparkling Wine where h e floundered besting only five of 14.  He should fin this much more to his liking.

Zbayou dropped the entry of his promising colt, Rahy’s Twin (7/2) who is the winner of one and has never been off the board in his others.  A chestnut colt with a flaxen mane and tail, he was third last time out in the Cherokee Band where he was in contention until the far turn and then tired down the lane.  He should move forward off of that effort and has a good chance on Saturday.

The plain brown but well-conformed Forestry colt comes with a rather long moniker, Forestforthetrees (9/2), is trained by Ohjoanie and has been in the money in three of his four starts including one win.  He made the lead in his last start, the Ashbury Stakes but tired.  He looks fit and ready and with his improving speed figures cannot be ignored.

A betting person could make some money off of Coominya Brew at 5/1.  This light grey son of Orientate is undefeated.  Ably trained by Hollymount, he tends to lay just off the pace and then explodes down the lane.  This is his first stakes and I think he has been brought along the right way and should have no trouble with the class jump.

Hold Yer Taters (gotta love the name) is trained by Freakshow which could explain everything and this son of Pine Bluff is listed at 5/1 also.  He was second last time out and is another that seems to be getting better as he matures.  The distance will not be a problem and he should only get better the farther he goes.
