VERY Even Race in Florida!
The LA PLUMBER Bonanza Stakes
Seven and a half furlongs on Firm Turf
$105,000
Fillies and mares, 2 years old
Standing along the rail at the Hialeah Race Course outside of Miami in Florida, we are getting set to run down the LA PLUMBER Bonanza Stakes Race named for 8 times turf winner LA Plumber. The weather is beautiful as always in Miami so we should have a fast turf track. We’ve got a nicely matched field so this should be fun. Let’s take a look:
1 – AUCTION BABY ODDS OWNER WIN% JOCKEY WIN% TOP SPEED AVG SPEED RANK 5/1 3gs 15.8% S.Popo 11% 77.2 76.7 14
These are not your average two year olds and we start off with a good one. This R C Indy Go filly should be at the Bargain Bowl this week where she would run away with the Juvenile Turf Race. She has run much more like her Grandaddy than her father by winning four of seven turf races and three of those were stakes races. She loves to stalk the leaders and turn it on at the top of the stretch. She is the morning line longshot but she will be in the running on Saturday.
| 2 – DAYFLY’S KID | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9/2 | nightnurse | 10.1% | L.Lamb | 10% | 78.0 | 76.3 | 39 |
Five races for this Dayjur offspring and never finished worse than second. Three of those were stakes races and she has a win and her best SPF at this distance last time out. Trainer Nightnurse has to be tickled with this brown beauty with hopes and dreams for much more in the coming year.
| 3 – CORAL HIPSTER | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4/1 | knightess | 9.1% | V.Gardner | 18% | 81.6 | 81.6 | 29 |
She stretched out to seven and a half last race and really strutted her stuff. Came Home is one of my favorite sires and this little filly shows why. She had an 81 SPF and won going away in the Lady Frankenstein Stakes. Shes been top two in six of eight and loves to jump out to the lead. Three is a good post for her and with Gardner up and guiding, she may be tough to put away in the stretch.
| 4 – GO FL GATORS | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/2 | oncloud9 | 4.8% | A.Darling | 21% | 82.2 | 78.9 | 63 |
All six races in the money for this chestnut Lemon Drop Kid offspring. She has the best speed figure to date with an 82 in her last outing, a win at the Music Chick Bonanza and is looking for three in a row here. A. Darling is one of the best jocks at this track and will guide her from just off the pace to her favorite place hiding place waiting for the stretch run.
| 5 – SKIP THE CAT | ODDS | OWNER | WIN% | JOCKEY | WIN% | TOP SPEED | AVG SPEED | RANK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3/1 | slewsback | 11.9% | R.Jones | 6% | 81.4 | 77.7 | 35 |
This beautiful light grey filly has had a really nice year with three wins and six ITM’s in only eight races. The Skip Away filly has only missed the top two once on the grass and that was a fourth in tough company in the Grade III Fast Lane Stakes four back. A surprising choice for trainer Slewback to put R. Jones in the saddle with some great jockeys at this track but this filly knows how to get it done.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3/1 | tonno200 | 14.3% | N.Torres | 7% | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Tonno200 has chosen a really tough spot for his prized Haafhd filly to get her first start. She has the accompaniment of Gone West and Sadler’s Wells too but breeding only goes so far and she has to go out and pick ‘em up and put ‘em down. Though the morning line picks her second, I will be genuinely surprised if she wins her very first start here.
Morning Line = 5-6-4-3
Yoss Tipsheet = 3-5-4-1
Paz Picks = 3-4-2-5
A really even race with just about everyone having a great chance, I like SKIP THE CAT to finish fourth by a whisker to DAYFLY’S KID. GO FL GATORS will go after CORAL HIPSTER but won’t have quite enough to catch her.
Good luck to all runners!
